It is not just a mind over matter thing. One can look at the tasks in a day in a positive light. The circumstances of life can be terrible, but how we respond to them can make all the difference. I, personally, have tried this and it works time and time again. The anxiety you feel when angry can be very bad for you. Yesterday,a young man cut me off in the parking lot. He then took my parking place and ran into a shopping cart. All because he was in a big hurry. How on earth can I find something positive in that. Well, I was doing a double check in side of me, and was glad I do not need to hurry like that. Grateful,I can take time to look at a situation and think about it. While in the store he saw me and looked ashamed and left the area I was in. I met up with him in the parking lot and asked him why he did what he did. "Life crappie that's why" That is all he said. We do not have to let circumstances control our thinking and ruin our day. We can make peace inside and remain positive. What kind of positive things can you contribute here.

Hi ponderrosa, Thanks for a great discussion and for sharing that story. It's clear that the gentleman in question had no idea that he didn't have to let others or circumstances affect his inner peace. One of the best self help books of the Twentieth century was Norman Vincent Peale"s "The Power of Positive Thinking", and I would still recommend it to anyone today. There are of course many others out there as well. If we can get in the habit of always expecting the best, it will be a great help as well as taking the time to what you call,"doing a double check inside of you". I'm retired so I do have more time after waking up, but I think everyone can have a positive thought to start the day. It really isn't what happens to us but the way we take it that really counts. Blessings.

Posie 123, great words for sure. You are correct about Norman Vincent Peale excellent reading for the open minded. There are many self help books we can read to understand the human emotion and better our selves. We do not have to be sour in life because this or that happened. Some the most outstanding people I have read about had many hurdles to go through and challenges and losses in life. Inner peace is worth more then gold and no one can take it away from you in less you let them. Again, thanks for your wonderful, insightful, response

Thank you for this great story and stressing how important it is to remain positive.
I would like to bring this discussion a step further and add a little thing that can make being positive a lot easier, because there are a lot of people out there who have tried to stay positive and they fell back into the negative side.
The magic thing is to find things you love.- If you follow even discussions here on mylot you can follow all the people who find something that is not right or that needs to be complained about. We are all so used to finding all the stuff we hate and don't like but find so little that we love. But if you go through your day looking for all the things you love and all the things you are thankful for, you will be astonished what fun it is to be positive and how easy it comes to you.-
And then there is the other bonus.- Want to know what it is?- All the things you love will pull more good stuff to you. The Universe will send you more of what you love, and your happiness will grow even more.- Try it, it is fun!

Well my theory is that as being positive also helps lowers your stress levels. If you keep looking at the bad parts in live. And don't relax enough to see the good. Then your just stressing yourself out. But, if you calm down long enough to look inside yourself and see that everything is okay. Then it's like a huge weight is lifted off your shoulders.

Being positive will really give you a lot of advantages. If you are a positive thinker, all problems and trials will pass as easy as others expect otherwise. You can easily cope up with different things, your decisions will always be based on a right prospective and attitude. It wont do you any bad to stay positive always.
