What should the consequince be if a child hits a teacher? What about a 6 year old child hitting a teacher? Should the consequence be different if the child is older or younger and why? Personaly I think that at the least the child should be sent home for the day and at the most the child should be suspended. I also think that age does matter. If an older child or teen hits someone they could hurt them where as a smaller child would probably not hurt an adult. Because of this I think that the younger child should be sent home for the day inless it is a repeat offence. An older child on the other hand should be able to sontroll their temper and so suspension should be the consequence. Please share your opinions.

I think personally that if a child is young, they should be taken to the principal's office, and yes sent home for the day.You are right, if a child is older, they should know how to control their temper and it is a bad sign if they are doing it at that age.Although, suspension is too light of a punishment for me to consider.Maybe not, if the parents are strict, but you have to remember some kids see that as free vacation.

That is where I start to doubt, the idea of a free vacation. With both parents working (if there are 2 parents involved) the child who should be in trouble is most likely left at home or with another family member and is never really punished, instead it is a TV fest and bed time goes out the window because the child does not have to get out of bed to go to school. I feel that they should be sent home from school because even if it interupts the parent's work day, they should have to take responsibility for their child at that point. There are in school suspensions that are often given but in many cases the child enjoys that because they are given busy work that can easily be done and they do not have to deal with their teacher or other students. Instead it is more like a one on one tutoring session paid for by the tax payer. The child that is violent does need special help but not the kind of help a teacher can provide. Sorry for going on and on, this seems to be an issue in my heart right now.
