I'm looking to armour myself with good christian weaponry and wondering where online there are good resources for looking up verses and the like. I've heard of esword, and really should get to using it more, but does anyone know any other good sites where you can type in words or phrases and they lead you to where they are in the Bible? It's great when you can back up your knowledge of what is in the bible with where it actually came from!!

If you are looking for Christianised armors and weapons you can check with USA.
First know from where the current day Bible came, why different version even differ in Chapters and Verses, is it undergone Chagnes? Is it sure that the canon we have today is the same collection preached by Jesus. go through the following links.

Greetings Harley009. I think I know what you might be asking.
First, let me take the easier part. The numbers of the verses and chapters (ie, Chapter 9, or verse 27) are really not part of the originals nor of the ancient manuscripts, but were added later.
In honest traslations changes occur for a few reasons. One is, some prefer to translate from only the earliest (oldest in time) manuscripts like the Sinaticus and Vaticanus, while others accept the Received Text (1500s).
Differences also occur due to new discoveries of the meanings of a few words. This is more true for the Hebrew / Aramaic (Old Testament).
What Jesus and the Apostles used is the same Old Testament we have today--but of course in Hebrew.

I have always used this site: http://www.biblegateway.com/
I think you can look up passages here, and the great part about it is you can also view verses in many many different versions of translations!
