funny female stand-up comedians

I enjoy watching stand-up comedy sometimes, but one thing I've noticed is the sheer lack of decent female stand up comedians. Like for example, I was watching the ChickComedy channel on Youtube the other day, and there were maybe 1-2 hilarious women out of 20 or so. Most of them were quite boring and kept talking about their relationships or their period. Of course, there are some women who are absolutely hilarious. My favorite female comedians are Kathleen Madigan, Wanda Sykes, and Kathy Griffin.
On the table for discussion:
1) Why are there so few female comedians?
2) Who are your favorite female comedians?

I like Wanda Sykes, too- she's really funny.
I think there aren't that many female comedians simply because people don't find them funny. I think there are unspoken taboos or something that prevent us from laughing at women like that, I guess. It just seems a lot easier and natural to laugh at a man.

Heh, I agree.
I remember reading about this study where they found that even when men and women were telling the same jokes, people on average found the men funnier.
