I wonder if what brand of laptop is the best in the market today. My husband plans to buy one for Christmas but he does not know what to buy because there are a lot of laptops to choose from. What should we consider before buying? Any recommendation???

Well the first step in choosing a laptop is knowing what you will be using it for and this largely depends on your occupation. Lets say someone is into graphic design or something of the sort, he/she may need a high end performance laptop to run resource intensive applications like photoshop or maya. Note that when I say "resource" here I'm mainly referring to processor speed and memory which are measured in GigaHertz(GHz) and GigaBytes(GB) respectively. For a processor anywhere from 1.8GHz upwards would be decent enough and memory 2GB. The other thing to consider is lifestyle. Do you travel alot? If yes make sure you check the weight of the lappy before purchasing. Are you careful with technology? If not, I suggest you get a Panasonic Toughbook...lol... I think you get the drift. Well those are a few basic pointers....need any clarification?...I'm here. A few of my favourite brands: :::Sony (Very Expensive little bu&%ers, for the prestige folks, dependable) :::Dell (DELLicate, handle with care,..lol) :::Toshiba (My champion, the Toshiba Satellite line) :::Acer (More DELLicate than a Dell...lol) :::HP (Fashion statements, the top models of laptops) PS: I'm a college student.

Before you go to buy laptop, You should know why you buy a laptop? What use of this laptop? Gaming? Office? Internet? If you want to use the laptop for Office or Internet, then a netbook is a perfect match. Netbook is a laptop with Atom Processor, and optimized for Office and Internet use. Usually the price is much cheaper than ordinary laptop. An example of netbook: Asus EEE, and many others. If you want to use the laptop for Gaming, then you should consider a gaming edition of laptop. There's a lot of brand that release a Gaming edition of laptop. Me myself use Asus F9 Series. I Use that specific type because I'm a network engineer and also sysadmin. Sometimes I need to work in a cable closet of a building, and sometime in a desk. I'm using this laptop also for research, or try some configuration by using Virtualization with virtualbox. Hope this answer helps.

So it depends in what way you consider 'the best' in relation to laptop functionalities and configurations too!! So if you meant about configuration and power in laptops i think alienware now are the most powerful in the market considering the most important choices in a laptop such as processor, ram, disk space, graphic card and accessories too!!So i think this brand, now owned by dell, really build systems so powerful and also original as regards design!!they are really expensive but you know this brand is one of the major as regards the so called high end pc so pc which they are at the top of the market!! If on the contrary you want consider best a laptop for normal use and everyday functions..so i guess brand as hp,ibm or sony can be suitable as well!! if you consider best the size and dimensions so you are searching for a laptop which it won't be so good as configuration but really small and portable you can check netbook as asus eee selection, new thinkpad by ibm/lenovo,or even some series from sony or dell too!!

When it comes to durability and price, I recommend Toshiba models. They got a fair price unlike Sony. I heard that Hp laptops got many complaints that makes it -1 from you choices right? :D In my personal experience, I have a Qosmio Toshiba laptop and it already lasted for 2 years with no hardware problems. I already bumb it and dropped it a few times but it is still working properly :D The problem is, it is heavy LOL

I think there're so many brand of laptop in the market. And what I wanna recommand is Lenovo. It's popular in many company. And maybe you know that actually the laptop of Lenovo derives from IBM. But it's a little expensive. And in my opinion, Mac is another good choice. It looks pretty beautiful, doesn't it?

Stay away from Sony, they have been known to be a fire hazard as they tend to over heat. The machine itself is fine, but the sony laptop battery has caused problems. I remember my computer felt like it would catch fire it was so hot. However, look at what specs you want, memory, prossor, sound and video cards, size with or without bluetooth, and wi-fi. Things like this are important when considering a laptop. Once you've decided what you need. Look at your credit history and price range. If you can't aford to buy one flat-out, compnies such as Dell and HP have custmizeable programs that ofer felexable payment plans. However you need a decent credit score to use them. Other then that.... happy shopping.
