i think it's nothing but a drag. i mean yeah, i can always just use it and get busy with while at home. there should be a good reason for me why i'm outside in the first place, and i'm pretty sure needing a laptop has nothing to do with it. but of course, if it's really needed, why not. i could do that. bring the laptop outside.

I seldom take my laptop with me on day trips, but when I'm going on vacation I would not dream of leaving my laptop behind. I have a carrying case with strap and handle which very much facilitates, and makes travel with a laptop convenient. I like to keep in touch with family at home, as well as business associates. In this day and age everyone wants and needs daily communication.

I dont own a laptop. I dont think its a bad idea to take your laptop or to use it in public places. I think thats what they are made for. I think some people dont have an internet connection at home. Or if they are working while they eat. Its no difference than when some people read a newspaper or take a briefcase when they are eating.

Most people take their laptop with them either because they are a student and have imformation they need for a class or they work for a business and need the laptop to keep in touch with their boss or could be they have their own business and use their laptop for their business.

for me it depends on the purpose of your going out, and also the place where you will go...
as for me, when i expect or anticipate i will be going and/ or dropping by at the mall, i bring my laptop...and when i anticipate that i will be staying out of house for few or more. the best place to bring the laptop is at the mall because of the mall's free wifi service.

I used to take my laptop with me to the coffee shop, when I did not have the internet. However, now I have the net at home, so I don't need to do that anymore.
Mind you when I travel overnight, I do take the laptop with me. I like to have my own computer, and I often use the player to listen to music at night, the same way as I'd listen to my radio at home.

To me that's the same as people with mobile phones. It's just ridiculous that some people can't seem to exist without the latest gadgets...perhaps one day these gadgets will be able to be built into our bodies...for convenience sake. Too silly.

Hi there,
For me, I don't take my laptop when I go out except some business issues. I think it's not convenient because my laptop is heavy.

In my case I'm not bringing my laptop anywhere. If I leave my house I am also leaving my laptop there. I'm not engage in any business or others that needs to bring laptop with me. But I don't find anything wrong with people bringing their laptop because for sure they have purpose why they need to bring it with them.

i dont. i think there is no need to take it out with the laptop. unless it's not safe to be left in the room. one of my friends once always took it with her, because it was not safe to keep it in the room. how tired, i think.

Hi doreencoco
I think maybe that's because they're busy and need to communicate or open internet connection at any time, that's why they bring their laptop. Nowadays, many cafe and restaurant provide wireless internet connection, so their customers can bring their laptop and still connected to internet to open their email or other job while eating in the restaurant/cafe. I'm a college student and many of my friends bring laptop to the cafe to finish task from lecturer together, search for inspiration, etc. At first, I don't understand too why people bring their laptop everywhere, but now I can understand that because I wish I can do the same.
It is a waste of time if I just go to the resto or cafe nad it for a long time. Maybe it's better to finish my job, say "hi" to my friend throught facebook, open my email or finish my job while sitting in a cafe or resto. It is better that sit without doing anything or read old magazine there. So the reason is to save time, finish job and eat/go out at the same time
I don't, because my laptop too big to be carried everywhere. My laptop is 15".. I wish I can get a 10" laptop..

Hi dorrencoco: When I go out I like to feel unburdened. I only carry my handbag with me which is quite large and has everything necessary in it. (But not much)I would be worried carrying my laptop and I'm not that busy or important to be seen with a laptop. I do my work in office and whatever fun things I have to do such as myLot, or Facebook etc. I attend to at home even till late night. Maybe those who carry them are the busy executives who have to check their e-mails (can be done on the phone now)or check their A/C balance or do their statements, tenders or whatever on the go; or maybe they simply feel lost without their laptops. Maybe its like a part of them, i.e. arms, legs etc. They might be even addicted to it and cannot leg go fot it? Who knows dorrencoco? while I agree with you, we are not all the same.

I bring my laptop with me from time to time since I sometimes bring a car that needs to be out early. Just yesterday I went to the office to early so I went to a deli place and brought my laptop with me while I kill time for like 3 hours before work starts. I usually bring it when I have to wait for more than an hour and if I have my car with me so that I do not need to carry my laptop the whole day.

actually since i dont rely too much on the internet to be on top of things like forex or stocks ,so i usually just leave it at home,i can always access internet at a friends house cos most of my friends have internet at theit home ,in the city, who doesnt? or if really want to go online and not at friends place just spend a smalla amount at internet cafe all over, hundreds,so feel cunbersome just lugging laptop around ,always have to carry it n not leave unattended worrying it ll be stolen or break into your car.

I never take my laptop out with me but I've seen people with laptops in restaurants and any public place with a wireless network very often.
Some people need to keep contact with their jobs, so it's good that they have the way to do so.

No, I dont take mine out, because so there are not many places I go, which have wifi, and anything I need to do on the computer, I can do at home.
