Knock! Knock! Who's there?
In most places folks can expect a visit every year or so from those who adhere to the Watchtower Society--Jehovah's Witnesses.
I am wondering what some of you might say to them when they come to your door. Imo, I can think of two great ways to respond to the JWs. So what do you say?

Well, I have a number of friends and aquaintences that are witnesses actually, so it usualy ends up being a quick social visit more than anything. They then just leave a copy of watch tower (which I do read from time to time) and go on about their way. Most are aware my family is pagan and that we aren't really interested in being preached to, witnessed to or convereted. the few who I don;t know that show up I usualy politely and quickly dismiss with a "thanks, not interested, have a great day sir [and or} madam"

Lol, well, he is a republican senator, from new hampshire. I'll leave my political ideology out of this one though, it was just an observation and in no way was intended as an insult, no matter how much I hate politicians...lol...nothing personal...good to meet you and welcome to mylot.

I know that the Jehovah's Witnesses believe it is their duty to "witness" to as many as they can, but as a Christian it is also my duty to witness to them. I do not turn them away nor try to get them to leave (although they often do try to leave quickly).
I have had some wonderful talks with JWs, but if you get one of them listening to you and responding, the other will usually urge them to go. Once I had a duo of two elderly ladies whom I invited in to sit with me, and they nearly ran out after I started witnessing. Usually, I do not get return visits until I move again.
I had a lovely lady come to my door just the other day. She didn't have a partner, just a little girl with her. We spoke at length and I only got one dark look, when I advised that regardless of our affiliations and religious associations, in the end we are all individually responsible to know God and that meeting God and knowing Him was more important than any name we call ourselves by.
My sister had a JW come to her house and debate with her for some time. She moved to another state and lo and behold, the same man showed up at her door one day,so many miles away. After another long religious discussion, he asked why if she believed so strongly she didn't go out and witness to other people. She told him simply "I don't have to, God sends them to me".
Every person who crosses your path is an opportunity if God has arranged it, so I wouldn't turn any from my door.

Wow! Very good. Keep up the good work. And I like what your sister said!
Aye, it is good when a Christian is grounded in Him to witness to these folk as the Holy Spirit so leads.
Keep up the good work. Btw, I don't know if I wrote on this discussion or not, but of course we have more of a chance to really talk to these people when they are not in duos. A JW let me pray for him one time when he was alone.

It usually goes something like this . . .
Before you start, I'd like to ask you one question. What do you think about the Lord Jesus Christ?
We worship Him.
Is He God?
He is A god, just as we can all become, but he is not God.
I'm sorry, but you have just insulted my very best Friend. Jesus said He is God. You have called Him a liar.
Usually they back off. Only once did one try to argue the point, but he gave up when he had no answer for Scriptures. I seldom get visits now. I think they have sussed me as hopeless.

I am told by a former Jehovah Witness that they believe that Jesus was an angel and as Satan was an Angel they believe that Jesus could fall too!! I do not know this as fact but it just told to me as I am stating it to you

Yes cynthiann, JW's believe the archangel Michael to be Jesus. Somehow they make the connection, which really isn't there, in part from the verse in 1 or 2 Thessalonians that says Christ shall return with the shout/voice of an archangel. However, the wording in Hebrews 1 shows us Christ was not an angel. Plus, if He was, that would make Him a created being and John 1 says Christ created all things and all things that are created were created by Him.

They're pretty brainwashed, so talking doesn't do much good. You just have to freak them out. Answer the door naked. Or say "Yeah sure come on in, we were just about to perform the sacrifice."

yes pastor welcome so u r not an jws so tell me now is it godly act to b judging others, how different r u from them when we all are gods' children, living in our fathers worlds of experience, how can u say that u r a true child of god when u r creating an egotistical discussion direspecting another religion, like what r u saying your religion is the best and theres' is the worst, when u all use the same bible, wether they have ot or nt what difference is there, judging is judging,so u r helping in contributing in misleading the children by setting on hatred, for one but love for the other,so if this is personal u live in then u r very much controlled by ego and not unconditional love, the universal love for all,my teachings delivers love for all,and learn to have respect for all,so r u telling me that this is the way of your religion to judge others,is that what your showing us that it is right to judge others?

Hi PastorP, A number of years ago I took the time to talk at length with a Jehovah's Witness and accepted and read their material. There was nothing at all in it for me. Now when someone comes around, I simply tell them that I've read their books and know their beliefs and that I have no interest. I also tell them if I take their leaflets, I will simple garbage them, then I suggest that they keep them for someone who might be interested. I refuse to let anyone tell me what I must believe. Blessings.

I usually say "no thank you" and then I shut the door.

Oh this is very easy to answer. They will not pray with 'outsiders' and they loathe Catholics. So I tell them that I am a Catholic and shall we hold hands and pray together? They run so fast when they hear this. I find it amusing but sad too.

Yeah, they don't like to pray with anyone but themselves. Now, there is one time one of them accepted prayer from me for a need of his, but that was when he was alone and had no other JW spying on him.
Btw, about a couple of years ago I got a little "hot under the collar" so to speak when they slammed your Church over some issues about morals. They like to tear down other groups and try to make themselves look good, but to me that is a stench.

Hi PastorP, well in the UK they used to bang on my door on a Sunday morning intruding on my one lie in of the week so they'd get the look before being told to never intrude again. I haven't come across any in Greece but that could just be because no one can find my house let alone my door.

LOL, I imagine then you enjoy your peace and quiet in Greece. You know, that is one reason, unless God directs me otherwise, why I don't knock on the door. I usually just leave my Gospel tract where they can find it. Now, if they come to the door, I try to engage them in conversation as led by the Spirit.
