Do you respond to all discussions that you read?

I was reading a discussion and wanted to comment on it but someone had written something similar to what I would have written so I didn't respond. I didn't want to be accused of plagiarism or trying to reword a perfectly good response. Have you ever not responded to a discussion but you wanted to? What would or did you do about it?
Sincerely in Christ,
Leesa C.

I don't worry about responding to a discussion because someone has written something similiar to what I think.
I feel that's one of the main points of these discussions. It gives us an opportunity to see how many people are thinking like us or not.
I actually appreciate when I can see that someone came to the same conclusion I did. Plus the way people express themselves in writing will always be slightly different. Even if another person says something similiar another party can distinguish the different styles between the two writers.

Hello,
I don't respond to every discussion that i read.
I only respond to a discussion that gives me interests to reply with,or catches me attention.
There is this urge that gives me the need to wrote my comment, that even if i know someone had wrote almost the same phrase that i wanted to say, becoz,i want to share my opinion.
This is a discussion,inter-action social sites, and i don't feel or think that writing same opinion will look like rewording.
In every topic,it is normal to receive almost same response and comment.
Have a nice day friend

Same here, I only response to topic that I am interested with. I think I would not be able to share and give a good response if I m not really familiar with the topic that is being talked about. I also don't mind whether somebody has the same views as mine. Sharing and interaction is what matter most.

I like your question because I have had this question in mind for a long time. Perhaps it would be good to state mine now because it is a little different although it runs along a similiar vein; it is Have you ever wanted to answer all the questions that is highlighted on your daily post but when you observe some are answered in a similiar manner or what you have in mind?
Now to answer your question I am able to do so,I have noticed that when a friend question is posted to me I respond right away once I have the time although I would want to read some previous responses but I am prevented because I am blocked. Within the daily posting I am not blocked and when I read others and they have a similiar response I think about it and sometimes I engage my husband in the discussion and will get a new perspective. I have written pointers that seemed to be similiar but the expressions are different so that make some difference. If I am passionate about a certain issue I will use my experience to defend my stance. Another thing that I do lately is to respond as quickly as possible to the question when they are posted. Sometimes you may see it late but I still respond honestly, this one is a case in point.

I respond to all the discussion that finds me interest with. I really don't care if I find out that there is one mylotter who commented which is the same as mine. It doesn't really matter if we both have the same response.

i dont. i always only read the discussions while without any responds. because i think i have no idea to reply. but i think it's not plagiarism to have similar thought, only if u express it in a different way.

I respond to probably 90% of the discussions I read. Sometimes I read something that interests me but I don't feel like I have anything to say on the subject. That doesn't happen very often because I seem to have an opinion on almost everything! Having the same opinion as someone else isn't plagiarism as long as you express it in your own words and don't copy the exact words/wording of another.

I do respond to pretty much all that I see, but the bad part about it is that I am usually late to the digest that I get to my email. So I by the time that I reply, the best response has already been chosen.

Not exactly. It depends on my mood. Sometimes I don't reply the discussion which I've read and even though there's any response to that discussion. Because my English is not very well...

I usually get some topics bu mylot in my mail box and I reply to them. I usually have a very tight schedule and cant read all the answer before replying so if u ur ideas are similar to someone else it doesnt mean that you should not be responding to the topic.

Hi imamprolife: I certainly do not respond to all discussions. Only those I find interesting or feel that I can respond. There are some discussions on which I feel I can write a lot and those are the discussions I normally respond to. As for your problem re plagiarism, you can write what you feel without using the same words used by the other responder. Once you start writing, it all comes out from your heart as it does for me, and I don't even look at what the others have written until I post my discussion. What YOU want to say and what YOU feel is what you should write about. Read the other responses later. then you won't have this problem. Cheers.

I think that you should just put something like "I agree with pp" previous poster
and state whatever else you'd like to say.
I respond to what grabs me...I get a digest of like 8 posts and usually only find one that I'm interested in responding to. I haven't made much on mylot because of that, but I'm having fun! :)

I just look at discussions that seem interesting to me- and I usually always reply to them, if I can think of a good reply. I tend to stay away from discussions about politics and topics I don't know much about.
I have seen a couple mylot members reply to discussions basically saying "I don't know what you are talking about, but thanks for starting this discussion. Have a nice day." I think those people don't care about th social aspect fo mylot and are just here to earn. I don't want to be like that, and that's why I just look for discussion that interest me.

Next time if you see a comment similar to the one you want to write, go ahead and write it anyway. As long as it is coming from your mind, you can consider it original. I don't think people will think you are plagiarizing. If you are interested in the discussion and your response is sincere, then maybe your way of conveying will be better than the other person who is saying the same thing. That is my opinion and sorry if anyone has said anything similar to what I have said in this discussion.

if that was the case then you must have added a comments to his box so your view can be an asset to the response he made.I dont think any mylotters would mistake your response to be copied one though.some times i just leave without responding if i had nothing new to add to any responses.gud day.

Obviously we don't respond to all discussions we read,it simply ain't possible. And seriously,if i do like responding to one,I simply go ahead without checking out others' responses. In any case,my ideas grouped with my choice of words and my presentation would make it unique. That is to say,it would be different from the other post in at least some way.For me conveying my message is more important than my idea being labeled "copied"...:)

I know how you feel. I am new in the site, but I have participated in forums and I've always felt sorry when I wanted to say something which was already said. it is not satisfying just to read something you would have written, but somebody said it first. That is why here, in this site, I always check the new discussions first. It is nice to respond first and then see what other have to say about it :)
