I was just listening to a program on our loca televison station.Apparently a very talented young man was given an opportunity to play football overseas and stands to make a lot of money but he would miss out on hiss high school education.
Now the host of the telivison program was saying that he would take the money becuase he would never be able to make this kind of money ever in his lifetime even if he got a PHD.He is arguing that there will be time enough for school after he has made a ton load of cash .
It is a fact that footballers overseas make a lot of money and are some of the highest earners and some end up getting their degree as a result of their earnings but do you think think this is a wise move ?

I would totally ditch high school in exchange for a stable high paying career. Because think about it, the purpose of even attending high school would already be fulfilled, just a little sooner, thats all.

i would not let my son do this at all. i would make him finish school first and get his education first. yeah when they speak of how they can make tons of money but being a football player isnt a life time job what if he gets hurt bad and cant play.
he should have education to fall back on. i hear how peple will say the samething about singing too and dont want to finish school wrong and stuipd

It will be dependent on where the child is happy. I think education can best be achieved on where you find happiness and it seems the young man is enjoying his sports life and I guess he would enjoy his life doing that and at the same time earning. Very few are given that opportunity in a life so I guess he should grab that. Formal education can help many to develop themselves but sometimes there are opportunities that come along that we can skip the formal education and grab the opportunity to earn more what education you are getting.

Hello my friend ronnyb Ji,
Well, it all depends upon person's inner urge to reach one's goal in life. There are many among us, who are never interested to earn, but to pass time with international community and enjoy. A reall foot-ballar amy not like to waste his prime time by attending school/college. There are many, who get Hony.DEgree for tehir different skils in different field. So I would like to leave it to that person.
Wishing you a very happy New Year-2010.
May God bless You and have a great time.

Great discussion.
I think he should play football - I mean, very few of us will be able to ever do that and as a star football player, he'd probably make more in a year than what most of us will make over a lifetime. Education doesn't count for much nowadays and given the state of schooling now, people learn jack in high school. So I think he should follow his dreams - he can always finish his education after he's done playing - but the same doesn't hold for an athletic career where you're only at your peak when you're young.

I think that this would be a great experience for the young man. Not will he be able to see more of the world but he'll make money doing what he loves. Most people don't even have the chance to make a lot of money let alone go over seas. I think that while he is over seas his parents should hire a tutor so he doesn't fall drastically behind in school.

I think if the player Always wanted to play football then he should go. He could always go back to school. But if he wants to be a "normal" kid and go the highschool and then play football then he shouldn't go. I all depends on his desire not the money. If he is pushed to either go to school or play and he truly doesn't want to , he will be miserable and he won't give it his all and therefore he will fail. I know if I were forced to go to school when I could follow my bliss and play ,I wouldn't pass a class.Or if I Wanted to go to school and I was forced to play ,I would truly try to get hurt so I could get back to school.

I think that talented people who are pushed into fortune and fame really don't have a handle on things. I think they should finish their education first, if they get hurt they won't have anything to fall back on, no talent, no education. It puts things in perspective real quick.

Good morning Ronnyb, I really don't know what i would do if i was in his position but i think it has to be his own decision. i wouldn't even start to offer him advice.

If the kid is that good, I would think the opportunity will still be there a year from now, when he finishes high school. He's invested most of his life in getting a diploma and an education, why would he want to abandon all that effort now. Why would his parents want him to give up at the end of the journey? Money shouldn't be the motivating factor in this equation.
One bad hit on the football field and he'll be back in class..

It's a now or future situation. If I were the young man, I think I would have done the same as well. What's in the future is so uncertain. And when economy crisis came, even the most highest paid earner will be affected.
I am not very sure whether how things worked for footballers but no one can prove whether is it a wise move or not because chances don't pop up so easily. When given an opportunity you will gain something and lost something.
