assemble or ready-built?

Early as Monday, this week, I saw Ella and Lester (office mates) rounding up on a CPU housing and assembling motherboard, memory chips, fan, video and audio cards, on what seems to be Ella's project. They are assembling Ella's new toy. I don't know the specifications of boards and cards and the peripherals they installed in there. I have seen yesterday that they already installed the OS, Windows 7 and already tried surfing the net with it. This has been the third day and they are still working something to it.
If you have know-hows on assembling PC's, you might as well assemble one. You have the freedom to put anything in it. The specs are controlled with your likings.
Do you like to assemble one or you prefer to buy a ready-built PC?

Hi, ethan, I prefer an assembling PC, but it's quite troublesome! I don't know how to assemble a PC, so everytime I ask my friends for help. They know each part and its price very well, so they always can get a better price. And they also can make my PC safe, I mean, the hardware sometimes cannot work together. So they know how to choose the correct ones.
But now, I find ready-built PC is more convenient expeciall on guarantees. But I also ask my friends to check the configuration to make sure all hardwares are at the average and it's economical.

Hi Ethan,
I don't have any skills to assemble a computer. If i know--of course i will assemble it myself and i will put everything that i want in it. we experienced buying a computer assembled by a friend. it's fun watching them doing it.
so i need to save more...i'll just buy a new one and just installed all the programs and anything that i want in there.

So far so good.
I have coughs right now but I am taking medicines religiously since this morning. So, you're a Bicolana. Kababayan! I am from Camarines Sur.
I know someone, Lester. He's techie guy, I think. Maybe he can help you if you want to assemble one.

well, i am the type of a person who do not want to stress myself! i already have plenty of stresses everyday that bothering myself assembling something will just add up to my worries. techie person or not, i would rather go to the store and pay for the specification i want. let them worry about that. i tell them my requirement, they tell me how much, then i pay. that's what money is for, paying for your convenience.
now, if assembling is really an option, i could just hire someone to assemble it and tell the person again what i want and let this person take care of everything. tell me how much, deliver it to me on an agreed date and that's it. easy. :)
well, its just me. :)

That's well if you have lots of money. But if you are monetarily constrained what would you do? Anyways, as you have said, that's just you.
Nice hair you have there in your avatar. Straight and long.
You should also color your hair with red. Joke!

Even if I don't have the money, then still I would rather save and buy, less headache for me. When you assemble, it's going to be a trial and error thing. And you will not get satisfaction because eventually,. you will be tempted to upgrade and buy some more and install some more, and modify this and upgrade that....
Side note: I have also considered coloring my hair with burgundy red but I think Ely would have the scare of his life! I could just imagine his facial expression! *wink*

i prefer to assemble one, because i will get the specification that i want with less cost than to buy an assembled one. also as you mention, i will have the freedom to put anything i like in them.

You can't be limited if you're the one to assemble your machine. But remember the compatibility factor.

If you are knowledgeable about computers, better assemble than buy a ready-built one. You will save a lot of money. The price of ready-built computers includes high mark-up profit. But if you are not knowledgeable about computers, better a ready-built one.

If have enough knowledge about computers, and you have experience in building one, better build than buy a ready-built. You will save a lot of money. Imagine the profit created by those who have built your PC. But if you are not knowledgeable about assembling a PC, better buy a ready-built one to avoid problems.

Yes. You are right. You'll cut on labor cost if you assemble your own machine.
