Okay Confession Time: How Many Of You When You Send Cards......

......not only sign your name but your pet or pets name(s) on them? Since many of us are sending or have sent out Christmas cards either by snail mail or as an "e-card" how many of you who have pets put your pets name down as well? I can't even remember when I started doing this. Actually I think it was my mother who started the idea, and not just signing her name to a card, whether birthday, Thanksgiving, Christmas, but she would buy a separate card and ONLY the names of the cats were signed on it. Now for fellow pet owners, if you send a card to someone and sign your pets names I'm just betting your pet loving friends do the same. Can't wonder though what people think that don't own pets must think of us pet owners though that do this oddity So confession time...as a pet owner do you sign your pets names on the card as well?

If I send cards, it depends on who I send them to... of course with all my cats... well, it does get tedious!

it gets tedious signing all 28 names - and that's just the CATS!

lol those of us that have them don't consider them as pets but part of the family too I guess. When I had my cats then they would also sign the cards that I was sending to friends. They would even leave a 'paw print' underneath the greeting that I wrote Santa used to bring them presents too and friends would ofen make sure they had something to open at Christmas time!

Yes, I do. They are very important part of my life. I put their names on emails I send to my friends and family with Holiday wishes. Often as "face licking from...."

Ha, ha...HO,HO...OK pye, you are making me confess...and really 'fess up! And you may even call the SPCA, on me! For torture! I keep on hand, a supply of NON-TOXIC water paints, as OFTEN I baby sit for my friends! So, I put paint of one of my cat's paws (Curlew) and stamp several cards....a different color on my dog's (Brew's) paws and stamp again, same card....and sign their name! Now, my son is doing the same thing with his cat. My little friends, don't mind the stamp, stamp part so much....but they both are NOT fond of the daily bathing, until the cards are done. They will NOT tolerate all cards being done at one sitting..LOL! Even tho' non-toxic, I don't take the chance of them licking it off, hence the bath! Happy Holidays...and Cheers!

LOL--yeah I bet your babies are "thrilled" about the bathing part all the time...NOT. Somehow I don't think my cats would be thrilled at all if I tried to get their paw prints on cards

Hey Pye! You already know my answer! I send you emails all the time and sign all my regular emails with my name and my cats names always! And send messages to your cats as well! And alot of us other mylotters do the same! I send my mother cards with my cats names and I'm sure she is just thrilled (yeah right!) I have always done this to everyone I send cards to whether they have pets or not and whether they like it or not! It's just what I do! They are members of my family, they are my babies so they get to sign their names! Wouldn't have it any other way! And thank you for my latest e-card! Me, Star & Luna loved it! And we send hugs and kitty kisses to you, Pye & Kissy!

I do this on all greeting cards I send out. Guilty as charged. My dog Trixie also has her own facebook page. I started hers after my brother made pages for his dogs and now we can keep up to date on all the pets. It is pretty cool.

I used to do this all the time, Pye. The usual verbal cruelty of my mom is what stopped me. Least it stopped me from signing my pets names on cards that went to her and her friends. She tore into me about it the first time she got a card from me with all the pets included in it. Pissed me off bigtime! Now, I rarely send cards out. Even e-cards unless I'm reminded to.

Thanks Maggie and Pye. My mom is and always was harder on me than my brother although we both got the verbal and mental. My dad was our savior. If it wasn't for him, I prolly would of ended my life years ago. He kept me on,mentally, or at least tried to. My family just doesn't understand why I don't want to go visit her. Yeah, I don't mind helping her out now that she needs it but I don't like going there knowing what I'm in for. She never did 'get' me and never will. My friends and hubby mostly do and, to me, that's what counts. Anyways...rambling..as usual...

it's a shame that memories of the past and the verbal crap your mother gave you inhibits you from doing something like signing your furbabies names to cards. As much of a wack job my mother was at least it was she believe it or not that started the custom--heck, we even sent cards TO the kitties on their birthdays..uh, kind of stopped that habit when the population became rather large

Oh, dear, Blackbriar! What a shame! What, dare I ask, made your mom so angry? For goodness sake--it's sweet, cute--what's wrong with it? If you ever email me, please feel fre--no, wait. I INSIST you add all your fur-family's names! You are a grown person who has the right to do as you please. Just leave them off your mom's cards, but enjoy yourself & put them on other pet-lover's cards! Life is too short to let others run yours for you! Grumph! HUMPH! I think I'm angrier at her than you are!! D^{ (On your behalf, I mean! ) Maggiepie "It is impossible to rightly govern the world without God and the Bible." —George Washington, Farewell Address, 1796

Of course I sign the furry buddies names to the cards...It takes about five minutes to add the furry buds names , and my non pet owning friends (I think there might be one or two max) know me really well and have learned to live with my idiosyncrasies. To top signing the pets names to peoples cards, how about that my boy friend sends his daughter's dogs greeting cards for the various occassions, including Valentines day, Easter, Halloween, Fourth of July, Thanksgiving, Christmas and the dogs' birthdays. I think that is one of the reasons that I love him so much. He even buys special treats for my dogs. He has bought them a LOT of people jerky and brings them the meat from his French Dip sandwiches that he eats on Wednesdays.

Years and years ago I used to have cards for my kitties birthdays...now I just use photos and print them up and make cards out of them --I mean cards are darn expensive..LOL. Oh but my two kitties are very smart...they buy their mom a birthday card and sign it

I hit lucky, my college was clearing out a HUGE bunch of greeting cards at 10 to 25 cents each. I bought $10 worth so that I am well supplied. Plus I find really nice ones at the thrift shops on occasion. I get cards from my cats and dogs (thanks to a wonderful guy buying them for them out of their doggie and kitty allowances.) for Valentines, Mother's Day, my birthday and Christmas. Plus often I get them for Halloween and occasionally Thanksgiving. They sign their names to them too (WOW aren't our furry buddies smart?). The dogs also send their original Mom Mother's day cards that are signed with their paw prints.

You already know the answer to this one when it comes to me! lol I'd love to put all of my furry friends names down but since I have 14 of 'em, I can't so I just put The Gang all 14 of them after our names. I'm sure I've had a few eye poppers once they read that part and probably wonder if there's a guy living here by the name of Noah. lol

We have 2 cats and 2 dogs. I sometimes sign all of their names, and sometimes not. Tukay, my white chihuahua I've had since she was 3 weeks old and was rejected by her mother (she was the runt), so I'm particularly attached to her. I consider her family, so I almost always sign her name in one form or another (she has a lot of nicknames). The 2 cats and the other dog are my step-daughters. None of them are especially affectionate, so there isn't the same bonding. I wish I could list their names when I fill out my taxes for deductions...lol.

With names like that, I'm surprised none of them got called for jury duty. Every so often you read about that happening. Michael Vick wouldn't have gotten off so easy if there'd been some 4-legged jury members.

ELIC--& dawgs, too! Or don't you include those as pets? Anyway, even with just the pats, if you sent out their paw prints, you'd need a card the size of a sheet from the daily newspaper to fit all of them on it! Most of my connections that receive greetings from me are not animal lovers and in fact I never talk about my pets to them . They treat my pets as they would treat my furniture and in fact if I buy something new it will perhaps draw their attention to the items and so it would look odd if I added my pets' names in the greeting cards!!

but then people put their childrens names on a card whether you are interested in children or not. and pets aren't like furniture. furniture isn't alive.

(LOL) I don’t do it anymore because my husband won’t let me and, because his name is on the majority of cards I respect his wishes and leave the fur babies’ names off...Shame though...People who don't own pets just don't get it...

I have been known to sign our dogs name to a christmas card every now and again...I will only sign it though to my mother and my mother in law because a lot of the other people that I were to make cards for doesn't really realize who that would be if I put our dogs name on their as well....I mean almost all of our friend know we have a dog but they may not know just by her name...although she is a huge part of our family and should definitely be included on all the cards
