Having a salary in one day and the next day it's gone

Have you ever had a feeling that you just received your salary and a few hours thereafter it is almost gone?
I just received my salary for the 15th yesterday including my 13th month pay. I settled a few bills-- rent and credit card. I dropped by the grocery and took a few bread, oats, soap, and other basics. I haven't bought any clothes or shoes but what is left of my salary are a few money to sustain my transportation and food allowance while awaiting for my next salary.
Sometimes I wonder, am I receiving a good salary or it's just the high prices of commodities?

Hi!
I was once an employee and experienced the same thing.
what I did is, I sell some cosmetic products to earn extra money.,It's really a big help for us ordinary people, especially now a days every little thing has increased, from the gasoline, groceries, clothes and etc., One thing is we should learn how to budget ,that's also very important.

I make a list of things to buy but often times when doing my groceries I end up beyond my budget. How I wish I could earn extra money, too.

i was once an employee and experienced the same thing until a friend of mine taught me on selling different stuffs. while working i sell tshirts, shoes and anything my colleagues can use to wear so in that way i can make my money somehow work for me and not depending on my salary alone. there were times where i sell even onions, mangoes, chocolates and other frozen foods when i have saved enough, i started selling computers which is my cup of tea (im a computer eng'r by profession). and it works prettychai i was able to save a lot that helped me put up my very first business ... computer shop!

I also experienced it, last month i received my salary for the month together with my 13th month pay. i am so overwhelmed because I had a big bunch of money and i dont know what to do with them, so i treat my friends, family, buy something for my self and pay the rent of the house. I also gave some money to my mother, after that the money was gone. It is so fast that i cant remember i had it. It's like I received the money now and it was gone by tomorrow. I also have regrets but it is already gone, it is my fault and no one to blame but me.

What a good question. Actually I have been asking myself why can't I feel that I have a big salary? I guess big salary comes also with big deductions. (LOL) Seriously, I feel this way 'coz it's the Christmas season, there are so many expenses and "mandatory" parties to go to. I feel like all the expenses and deductions are making my salary a joke. How I wish things would be different next year, after the holidays.

Well for those unfortunate people like me, I can say that my earnings now are really high only that I cannot feel it becuase of my obligations to my family. But of course to those who are rich, money doesn't really matter.

I am not spending beyond my means. It just so happen that I bought the gadgets requested by my siblings. It is hard to say "no" or decline a favor when your family ask for something. I would rather sacrifice my personal wants just to paint a smile on their faces-- especially so that it is the holidays.

For me its both, you have a good salary and at the same time the prices of commodities are really high nowadays, especially this season. What is imporatnt in earning is that we have the right how to spend it, although sometimes we still consider the expenses of our family that we need to burden ourselves just to provide them with the convinience of comfort, not realizing that we are the ones suffering by the heavy work load that we do everyday just to earn that much. I share your sentiments dear.

Thanks attyjdcenteno...
Sometimes our family attachment becomes a reason for us to sacrifice our personal needs in order for their wants and needs to be satisfied.

hi chai,
I too have the same problem and i dont think my salary is large. Due to high prices and less salary i feel that surviving is becoming difficult. Though we are able to buy some basic needs in our daily life at some point of life growth should be there in our life which is becoming difficult.

ha ha ha LOL . maybe you spend too much already without noticing it? and you are using credit cards??? that will make you really poor using cc... unless you only use it for "emergency" use.. i also felt that before when i was working.. paying all my debts, allowance of my kids, family's food allowance , etc... no matter how big your salary is but if you are not sensible in spending money.. its useless....

I make about a $1.45/hr more than minimum wage. I must say that it is almost impossible to live this amount of money. Even though I am single and have no kids, I still couldn't live on what I make. Money goes really fast. Let me put it this way. What I make in 2 weeks(after tax and insurance deductions) is what some people would spend on food in a few weeks. I always try to buy stuff that is on sale but it still seems like prices are way too high.
