Have you ever felt that your questions in life were answered after watching a movie? Have you ever felt that conflicting perspectives in your mind were resolved by a movie? I don't watch movies to find the answers to my questions. But subconsciously it seems as if the movie is the answer that I have been looking for.
One movie which touched my life is Brendan Fraser and Joe Pesci's WITH HONORS. I was only a teenager when I watched that movie so I feel that I don't have that many questions in life back then. However, the movie answered a question that keeps running through my head. I learned that I can give up something I worked hard for, something I earned, for the people who matters in my life. Just like in the movie, Monty gave up the thesis that will guarantee him as an honor student, in order to help out a friend who taught him on how to graduate life, with honors.:-)

Would this mean that you should have graduated with honors during law school? wow, well I can't argue about that, I am pretty sure that your above average intellectually person/student and is assured of a bright future.
I should say that movies depict real life, what happened, is happening, and may happen. It is based on the facts of life, such as action, drama, comedy, and etc. I can say that there are movies which can really ask a person's question. Like the question in "love", which obviuosly can be related to many movies whether local or international. Nowadays, independent films are very much scripted to fit the actual scenarios and everyday occurences of our environment.
I really love watching movies, it does'nt only entertain me but it brings joy by learning from each movie I watch, and sometimes adapt those things I learned in real life. One of my movie that I really loved to watch and I can relate to is Saving Private Ryan. Thumbs up!!!

Um, no. That's not what I mean. Graduating life with honors, not academic honor in the literal sense. The movie depicted how you can graduate life with honors, by not refusing to learn from someone, by being able to sacrifice something you've worked hard for. The movie taught me at some point in my life that I can give up something I've worked hard for, for my family and the other people who matters.

I like your query.
I share the same experience with you. On my college days we are required by our teacher to watch the movie great expectations by Charles Dickens and make a comprehensive analysis with the book.
After 4 years from college, the story of the characters flash out on my mind. I realized that I had actually experienced the struggle of the male character in that story. I thought that if I will improve myself somehow the person that I love would accept me or like, only to find out in the end it was just a great expectations.
I learn my lesson that never too expect too much, and learn to be more realistic.

I cannot say that any movie has answered a question in my life. I realize that movies are just make believe. I'm sure that some things that happen in movies can happen in real life but that is not usually the case. One exception is scary movies. I just cannot watch them. If I need I have nightmares for days. I try to tell myself that it was just a movie but not even that works.

I always missed to watch With Honors. I don't know the story that is why I am never interested, but it is always shown in Star Movies. Now that I read your post I am not interested to watch it. One movie that made me realize something not totally answered the question in my life is Erin Brocovich. In that movie starring Julia Robert as Erin, she have no job and she look for it. There are many struggle came her way but in the end she succeeded, because she wanted to. I learned from that movie, that when you want something you will do everything to have it. And the burning desire to have it motivated you to have it hard. Nothing is impossible, from the word itself, IM POSSIBLE. see?

Hi there. Good discussion at all. Yes when i watched the movie "HUM DIL DE CHUKE SANAM" (an indian movie, u may unknown about it), i found some similarities with my life. It was a story of love and sacrifice. Next to it i wrote my second novel " touch of love" representing that issue. I think that is the best creation of my life. Thanks
