I have an uncle who really loves soft drinks! He can actually drink more a liter or two himself! And he can actually consume it over our one-time regular conversations... I myself is also an addict. I can never stop myself from drinking soft drinks! Coke is my favorite. My parents were kind of worried about that. But I can't help it..

Hi dear! Soft drinks or say carbonated drinks are not my preference, as these kind of soft drinks do not do any good to our health. I love the fizz once in a while and I cannot myself an addict. I would prefer to have lemon water or coconut water or butter milk or some fruit juice instead of gulping some soft drink.

You are a healthy person if that's the case. I would love to be like that indeed. But I can't really stop myself from drinking soft drinks. I try to stop it once in a while so as to avoid too much addiction. I hope I'll succeed because I know that it's not doing any good on my health...

Well, for me i am not a certified soda drinker as i know the drink contains a lot of sugar which could predict having a diabetes. After, drinking the one should decide to moderate her way to discipline itself or suffer the consequences of being a soda drinker as it have some bad effects in the body. So far drinking of beverages would not only make one feel energized but would also teach lessons .

Hi, I'm not a soft drink fans. I will not addict to soft drink. I will drink it when I'm having my meal at Mc Donald. However I quite often drink isotonic drink. Is it consider soft drink also? I like to drink water (sky juice) rather than any drink else. If you couldn't stop yourself from drinking soft drink, try to be used to drink plain water. It is important to have plain water since soft drinks contain a lot of sugars, artificial flavor addictive, coloring and preservative. So start to keep away from soft drink and have a better and healthier lifestyle. Have a nice day

Thanks for your advice. That's exactly what I'm trying to do--drink a lot of water to subside the sugar content of soft drinks in my body. But sometimes, I forget to drink water.. Really, I should keep on doing it. I hope I can. Anyway, what is isotonic drink? I don't know about it... :)

Here in China, we'll have soft drinks as a must in a family reunion meal or a formal dinner. Children like it very much, so did I when I was a girl. When I grow up, I drink less and less of soft drinks, only on some dinners I think. I'd rather to drink mineral water instead. I once knew an American who takes Pepsi as the only source of water. I think it's bad to his health, especially the teeth.

I am a pharmacist. We studied chemistry in college. I can say, you are not aware of the bad effects of chemicals you are ingesting. I suggest you check out the label of the soft drinks you are drinking, check out the ingredients and search the internet for the possible dangers they can cause to your health. You should lower your intake of these chemicals or else sooner or later, you will reap the consequences. Do you know Phosphoric acid? Did you some of the most popular softdrinks contain this harmful chemical? Phosphoric acid is also an ingredient in making some explosives like bombs!

I used to be, but I have changed it because in time it will get on your health. too much of it somewhat distorts your sugar level in your blood that could lead you to becoming a diabetic. I used to drink that like water since it was always available at our house. Eventually as we all grew up it seems that my mother stopped the habit too. But I still drink it occasionally from time to time. But I can avoid drinking that in many days. It is not a very important drink for me anymore and I find water to be more healthier choice of drink than sodas.

Good for you then. I hope I can also try to avoid it. But I'm willing to lessen it now. And perhaps, in due time, I'll be able to avoid it too. Thanks for sharing..

I love soft drinks as well with Pepsi being my favorite. But I have been really good about not drinking too much as I could very easily. On average I MIGHT have one per day. This is compared to having about 3-5 12oz cans per day about 4 years ago. It contains a lot of sugar and I am trying to lose weight and should not even be drinking at all if trying to lose. I would say now I have about 5 cans per week. so much better. I really like the taste of soda and it seems to quench my thirst. I drink a whole lot more water now which is good and better for me.

oh my god yes! If there is one thing I am addicted to it would be diet pepsi/diet coke, I don't have a favorite each of them suit me just fine, I know the diet label is really misleading kind of since, it really isn't the best thing to drink if you are dieting, but still I love it better than the regular stuff.

Hey CallieWVU2. I guess that's one thing we have in common. The diet soda. Even after the circulated email that said diet soda is a good chemical cleaner for the toilet, I still can't help drink the stuff.

I am not addicted to soda or any other soft drinks. I never felt it to be addictive. The taste is good but it never felt addictive. Besides it seems to leave a bad taste after a while. Either way I prefer to drink plain water.

I used to drink softdrinks / soda a lot before but I read dozens of health articles that says, it doesn't do anything good or healthy for the body. So I decided 3 years ago to stop drinking it for my new years resolution. I am proud to say that I did not drink the stuff since then. It was difficult at first but once you get the one year mark, you will never miss it all.

Owww!!! Avoiding soft drinks is not really in my vocabulary right now! I don't even know what to do if I haven't drank some for a week! I can pass a day or two..But having no soft drinks for the entire week is not funny! Well, I admire you for being so brave enough to do that. I hope I can do that.. I seriously am hoping. Though I can't make a promise on that because..It's not that easy..Huhu

Just try not drinking it for a small amount of time at first. I will suggest a week or so. And when you get past the week, if you are still tempted to drink soda, think that if you can do it for a week, you can do it for another week and the process repeats itself until you don't drink the stuff at all. However, if you gave in to the temptation, don't be too hard on yourself and just start the process of not drinking it all over again.

No, not really. I generally dislike soft drinks and like to take healthy drinks such as water and orange juice. I do know that soft drinks are not healthy for your body which is one of the reasons why I decide not to take them. But I also don't take them because I don't like them. My brother, on the other hand, loves soft drinks... Infact he drinks a bottle a day or more. I try to stop him and tell him that it is very bad for him, but he won't listen and continue drinking. I'm pretty worried about him and don't know what I could do.

borg246----- I could perfectly relate with your brother. If you loved soft drinks, there's really no way you can stop yourself from it. Okay, maybe there's a way, but it's really not that easy for us to do..Huhuhu But you're right.. Soft drinks is not doing any good to our health.. I just need to motivate myself more so that I'll be able to overcome this bad addiction.

My husband used to drink 4 - yes FOUR litres a day of Diet Coke, from those hideous plastic bottles. He wouldn't bother pouring it out into a glass, just straight down his throat from the bottle! A few months ago it suddenly dawned on him that - besides Diet Coke being bad for you in large quanities (you only need to see what it does to a coin, cleans it) it was also damaging his bank balance. Since then he very rarely drinks the stuff and I'm amazed at how he's been able to go from drinking loads to none virtually overnight. I'm very proud of him!

Owww!!! You're husband is a good patient. He can actually avoid something that he loves so much when he realizes that it's doing no good to him. I admire him for that. And I wish I could do the same..

I salute your husband.. Yeah you're right again.. It's in will-power. As they say, "If there's a will, there's a way.." So, if I really want to stop to, perhaps I really can.. Just needed more time and motivation! Thanks!

All it takes is will-power. He probably wanted to give up a lot sooner than he did but it became a financial necessity to give the Diet Coke up. He also noticed that the price of this drink kept going up so he decided to figure out how much it would cost him over the year...and that's what clinched it! He does drink coffee now but nowhere near the same quantity as Diet Coke.

I am not a soda or soft drink addict. I suggest that you minimize drinking this stuff because its sugar content is high. Perhaps instead of taking a glass try to lessen it by half and substitute the other half with water. Or if you really crave for a sweet drink replace it with juice. Powdered juices are sweet and also have lots of sugar but it is less evil than coke, I suppose.

I think we all enjoy our sodas and soft drinks. It is so easy to consume too much of these products. Getting addicted to soft drinks is something anyone of us can face. Knowing when to turn away from our favorite soft drinks is a crutch we all bear.

Yes, I am. My addiction is diet coke. I drink it all day, even during breakfast. I used to drink a can every time I have something to eat. Now, I am trying to cut back. I now just buy those 2-litter bottles, and pour half a cup everytime. It may be 3 or four 'half-a-cups', but it is still better than drinking 2 to 3 cans. I can't help it, anything else I drink is just flat.
