The formula for a triangle is: (A x A) + (B x B)= (C x C) If you can understand this formula, What is the answer for "c" if A=2 and B=3. 2 to the power of two, plus, 3 to the power of two equals C to the power of two.

So the formula for a right triangle is: A^2 + B^2 = C^2. If A=2, B=3, what is C? To find C, plug in the given numbers: (2)^2 + (3)^2 = C^2. Simplify. 4+9 = C^2. So, C^2=13. To get rid of the square, square root it. Then C= sqrt 13.

Alrighty! What is A^2 (to the power of two) plus B^2 (to the power of two)? Ten right? So C^2 = 10^2 so the answer should be five. :)
