Did I turn you on?

Well OK, here I go with the misleading titles again. Bad Dawn.
This afternoon I was sitting on two really boring calls, the second of which did not need the use of my brain whatsoever. So I went through my friends list.
I had done an experiment and turned on notifications for the people that I talk to most often. Well today I went through and turned on notifications for everybody else if they had at least 100 posts. Or if they had less and I already knew them from another site.
So my myLot folder in my e-mail is now going to get bombarded probably and I will be even further behind than usual.
Still this doesn't fix the problem of the 5 friends that I NEVER get notifiers for. Although I turned those 5 off and back on again. Maybe that will fix it.
This fascinating discussion brought to you by:
Bored on a work call about something that doesn't need my input and that I"m not interested in but that I am required to attend.

You always turn me on Dawn, you should know that by now! I have most of my friends on notify, although I don't really have the time in all honesty, But I think because of the holiday season not that many discussions are being created, so at least I can keep on top of them! (there's a double entendre in there too!) just getting you back for turning me on, now can you turn me off again as it's nearly time for wolves to get their beauty sleep, growl!

hi dawnald I was shocked when I went through my friends list to find I had not turned on a bunch of people who had all asked
to be friends, and also at how many friends I had, and some are no longer here. I hate to weed as am so afraid I will weed out some who may just be away and will later come back. but those that are gone a year or two I decided I had to do something. I have an awfull lot more friends than I realized. Not that I am complaining just thats its getting a bit unweildy.

Yes, very. And I saw a lot of people I haven't heard from in a long time. There were a few with inactive accounts too.

LOL I am bored at work as well. Nice experiment. I turned off most of my notifiers because I tend to already get too much mail. Best wishes!

I have them all turned on, but there is one, that no matter what I do, I cannot get theirs. They say that alot of their friends have complained about it. I wonder what is up with some. I haven't been getting hardly any in the last two days.

I complained the first time I noticed it, nothing changed. Didn't bother complaining for the other ones I discovered...

I was pretty bored, yep.
I know those 5 friends haven't started one. The only reason I know is that I went by their profile to check. Because I never get notified when they do. It's an excuse to visit. Oh well.

Hi Dawn. I am here every morning, so it is easier for me to work from "friends started". When I am away for a few days or weeks I turn on a number of friends so that I'll be sure to catch them when I return. I do have a few friends turned on all the time, but have considered turning them off except for while I am away. I see no point of the service if I am here every day.
I do have the notifications for responses turned on. Apart from the current ones, it would be easy to miss some responses which are added weeks later if I didn't receive notifications.

If I work from the friends started tab, that worked OK for me, but I found I was missing some if 1) the person was on the other side of the planet, ie their day was my night and also if 2) I'm gone for a while. But I still haven't totally decided if this makes things easier or harder. I don't have notifications turned on for responses and I'm sure I do miss some...

I am always complaining that I do not receive my friends' emails. No one listens to me and I have to search an that is not good - lack of time these days. Hey girl, you are on a roll! I think it is three that I do not get. But I get one from someone who I turned off and that - well - cannot think of the right word right now.

Maybe those notifiers you never get have declared themselves unnotifers, whatever that may mean. Now, that must have been one boring call. The title didn't get me all hot and bothered, simply because the first couple of lines of your conversation were there, too, lol.
But thank you for the _________ not sure what to call it?
You're funny lol.

Yes, true, you can see more than the title... :-)
Tomorrow's call will be really boring. The CIO will be bla bla blaing about future state and end state and aren't we happy we laid all those people off and are streamlined now. zzzzzzzzz
Maybe I can get a few good discussions in then. :-)

I have things to do, but the 'to do' is "listen" to the people on this call...

I think I have always been turned on. And always, almost from the start, been behind. I know that I have friends out there in MyLot land. Boy, I sure wish I could e mail and browse while I work. I would never work!! Now wouldn't that be nice. I also wish I had a chance to be bored at work.

aw.....isn't that sweet! You turned to us when you needed us the most...to prevent you dying at an early age from boredom! I have a few friends too that I don't get notifications from and they start discussions all the time! Let me know if that works...I might give it a whirl!

Hey dawn! Whatever works for you! As long as you're being paid
to hang on those boring work calls I say "good for you"! I would
love to have that kind of job where I could let my brain rest
for a little while!lol I'm sure your job requires alot more than
that, but it is nice to get a break once in awhile! So, I think
you should use that "down time" for whatever makes you happy!
Now if your email box does get bombarded then the next time you
do have another annoying boring call you can turn off your notifys
again! You do know that leaving mine on won't bombard your email
box because everyone of my friends knows that it is few and far
between when OPAL26 starts a discussion!

Well I tend to amble in when I see a purple frock and don't actually read the titles or introductions as think, Dawn's probably got the coffee bags on.
When most of them work then I presume they all work which is no where near true. I have a couple who have their notifiers off at their end but I tend to think if I need to turn the notifiers off on some one I might as well delete them as they also clog up my friends started list as well as my in box. I had a system with Astonysh as I never received alerts when he responded and we often drew things out a bit, he used to pm and tell me he'd responded.

Well you were right, you roped me right in but you didn't disappoint so I was still glad I came. When I first joined and would get a new friend I would turn all of the notifications on and then realized how over flowed my inbox was getting so I decided to turn all of the notifications off...then I didn't know what the heck was going on but later learned that I didn't have to have the notifications on but instead needed to go into my settings to receive notifications of when someone responds to my discussions and then I just go under the friends started tab to see when friends have started a new discussion...I hope this is what you are talkig about with notifications because if not I just typed a foolish looking response LOL

Ah, I have it turned on from my friend's list but not from preferences. I deal with responses to my responses via the responded tab. Maybe I'll go and turn that one on too just for fun and to see how much capacity AOL's servers have. :-)
