And i lost $50.This is so true and very devastating...
I checked my email this day, excited to see my payments from other sites just to found out that on my spam folder, there was a transaction made with upbux whom I was not a member. I have heard of the site and know it is a PTC site but never did it came to my mind to become a member. I have already quit a lot of PTC sites and stayed only for trek pay.
Anyway, the description of the merchant was stealther 23 It was a payment regarding "Referral Balance Addition". I am so sad and feel beat up right now. I hurriedly reported it to paypal by the way, and they are already viewing my case. I hope i could get my money back as soon as possible. I earned that amount for almost half a year already and is just being enjoyed by some a$shole.
Are any members here became a victim by hackers too? What did you do? What then should I do? This isn't a very good gift for this holiday. If ever you think you have an easy password or multiple accounts with a single password, better change it for this dreadful thing really does happen.*sigh*

Geez that is terrible! I feel sorry for you. And this is scary! I already did changed my paypal password to a more complicated one to which I think hackers won't get to it easily. I wish you can get your money back. What's the anti-virus software you're using? Maybe you should use a more reliable one.

Hi shadow.
Yeah it really is terrible that is the most dreadful thing that happened to me this month. I really wish i could. The anti-virus software that I am using is Avira. Does that thing have to do with my account? Sorry for being so innocent with this situation.

Anti-virus software can help prevent hackers from getting to your accounts. I'm using kaspersky internet security which has anti-phishing feature. I feel secure by using it but I know I'm still not 100 percent safe from hackers for most of them are geniuses!
But don't lose hope yet. Paypal is an honest payment processor and I have a feeling that you'll get your money back. I really hope you will. Update us about this. We won't be at ease with paypal not until you get your money back.

Oh so that's how antivirus works. I thought they just remove unwanted programs on your PCs but it works as a guardian to your connection too. Thanks shadow.
Now it feels like that the name of paypal is on my hands. I will definitely inform the people here what happened to my case as this is a very important matter to us all.
Thanks again shadow41.

Oh my, this is a great reminder for me and all others out there to be cautious of their online usernames and passwords. I will have to change my passwords more frequently from now on.
I wish you could get back the money you have lost. Thanks for sharing this info to us.

You have a point about using words which could not be found in the dictionary. I'll consider that from now on.

Oh that is really bad to know that your account being hacked. So far none is able to get into my account. I seldom open my paypal account and I make sure that I do not answer any email about paypal. Paypal does not email me for anything except for when there are transactions in my account.

Hello rsa.
Yup paypal does the same for me too. Though I found the hacker's transaction on my spam folder. I thought it was just one of the "spam" mails but i hurriedly checked my account if that was true. After sometime and checking my paypal, i was shocked to see that i paid $50 FOR SOMETHING I DON'T KNOW. I just hope this culprit will get caught as soon as possible. Thanks for the concern.

I have heard of these type of things happening to people, and it is quite Sad that things like this do happen. Unfortunately Paypal has not found a way it sounds like to Block things like this from happening, and it would be nice if they could safeguard our $$ there better. I have never had any issues there so I have been safe but at the same time I am quite cautious when it comes to using that site for sure.

hello koala,
this is very unfortunate. you have that much amount in your Paypal? kidding me right? you should have connected it with your bank already, what ever it is. and this is the main reason why, if you have reached more than ten dollars i suggest you already withdraw so that this will be prevented. i know paypal can do something about it since they have a call center here in our country.. change your password from time to time.

Hello stars.
Yep i made this discussion for that purpose. For us to be more careful and to make you aware that this thing really happens. Don't wait for something like this to happen again and let the hacker enjoy the money you have earned for months. Thanks for the concern by the way. Take care!

Thank you JaiiDK.
I f you want to avoid this situation, take further care on your accounts most especially in making passwords. My fault here was, i made a lot of account with the same email and the same password. Now, i learned my lesson but the hard way though. Now that you still have time, you could change them if you doubt that it might get be easily decoded. Just be more careful. Take care!

Yeah, you're right. Make your password very difficult to guess. Also be careful in signing up with sites or responding to email account verifications. Not long ago, I received an email from a certain person claiming he is a staff of Yahoo Mail. He warned that they are deleting inactive accounts or accounts that are seldom used. And he demanded that I need to confirm with them that my account is active by replying and sending to them my name, birthday, occupation, address, phone number and Yahoo Mail password. They gave me a deadline, but I did not heed their warning. Deadline passed, and nothing happen. You see? This is a pharming or phishing scam. Be careful online. Also use good anti-virus and anti-spyware programs for added security.

Hello magtibaygom.
Thank you for the helpful tips. I would be more careful next time though. I will just complete the checklist so that my case could be solve by the company. I think i received the same email too. I guess we just have to disregard those emails and be smarter than those stupid hackers.

It really is sad. I was like, "WTF" when i saw the unauthorized transaction. And hurriedly reported the matter to paypal. I just hope i could get through this problem and retrieve my not-so-big earnings that i saved for 6 months. Luckily, it was not verified yet since i don't have my bank account or any credit cards with me.
