New here, How to add banners and links to profile?

Hello to all of you... Can you share to me how will I edit my profile and add my banners and links? I've visited some of the members here and I saw that they are promoting other sites by posting it to their profiles. I also want to do that. This is legal right ? and it does not violate the rules here?

Here it goes like this
My Profile ---- Edit profile --- Add Content ---- Radio button [HTML] --- Add Item --- HTML CODE in sortie ---- Save Changes.
Add Content you will see in the Top right hand corner. One thing which has to be kept in mind is that when you will add the HTML code in the sortie box , it may happen that the banner does not appear in some trials may go upto 6-7 times , but keep on repeating the task of adding the HTML code to sortie by Copy Paste method and then the banner will appear there . As it appears just view the profile and you will see it permanently .

I have tried you method,it's the right way to solve the matter.thanks for you answer although i don't need the method to modify my profile. i come here just for learning english . and also i can know the people from other places.I think it is interesting that chatting with people in different place.Good luck with you.

The appiontment of the method is to edit the HTML ,I think if you know HTML, it will be helpful.Maybe it is.But i don't know it very much.
