How many of you think that being an animal lover also implies that you should be a vegetarian? I am a vegetarian, I feel if you are an animal lover, eating meat just makes you a hypocrite. If you care for them then how can you eat them?

i am a pure vegetarian.i have cats as pet animals. They are given non veg. there is a reason behind this ,as cats are carnivorous animals and their natural food is non vegetarian food i didnt feelto change their eating mode.being vegetarian i am satisfying myself that i am not harming. As i care for my cats by giving non veg , i am satisfying them.

Hello umabharti,
I agree, I have no problems feeding my pets non vegetarian because thats how nature intended them to be. All I wanted to know was, if people who claimed to be animal lovers were non vegetarians. I have a dog and I feed her non vegetarian too. :)

I don't think it does, although I can see how some people choose not to eat animals.
I love animals. I am one myself. I don't consider it bad that a dog eats meat. and I don't consider it bad that I do.
what I do find hypocritical though, is when someone professing to be an animal lover eats FACTORY FARMED meat. I can eat an animal that has lived a good life, and in buying that meat I'm paying for that to take place. if you love animals you won't pay for them to be kept in overcrowded conditions and unable to express their natural behaviour.

I am an animal lover.I love dogs and cats.I love lots of animals.for my love of animals,I am learning to unlike meat.I can't avoid seafood, though.I love squid, shrimp, mussels, and prawns.also,I love eggs, milk, and cheese.I don't think it will be problem as long as it doesn't harm the chickens and cows.

Nature's intention was to make some animals vegetarians and some carnivores. Carnivores hunt to survive, making their "dinner" other animals. Humans as an evolved species are carnivores, and therefore we have to hunt for our food to survive (or go to the grocery store). All of that mumbo jumbo leads me to my point that I don't believe that you can care and love animals and not be a vegetarian. And further more it would throw off the balance man vs. animal if we stopped hunting and killing. I also believe that there are some groups in history that used to honor their kill with a party and gathering with music to give thanks to the nature for giving them such a wonderful gift. So no I can love and eat and honor them all at the same time.:)
