Would you consider a crime the act of a father who stole/robbed money from a store, bank or person for the reason of saving his child's life who is in need of a very big operation but requires large amount of money for the procedure?

The act of the father still amounts to a crime... The operation needed by the child is not an excuse for committing a tortious act. What for are laws created if we are not to abide them?
There are ways by which the father could have made the operation possible without resulting to a crime-- he may have ask the help of generous individuals or family members, go to governmental or non-governmental agencies who in one way or another could seek a benefactor for the child's operation.
The law must use its fangs to serve its purpose- the law may be harsh but it is the law.

Crime is a crime, ignorance of the law excuses no one, other people do that due to the financial problems but its not a reason for committing such crime, truly that the law are still a law no one gets above in it..

Yes, it is still a crime. Although the reason for the crime is for saving his child's life, still: The end does not justify the means. Even if he is desperate, the act should not be tolerated. The act of robbing a store may lead to fatal consequences. It is still a crime but it will help a lot in understanding the criminal better. It may be considered as analogous mitigating circumstance. :-)
