I am going to a school party this afternoon and have debated all semester about what I should bring the students. I finally decided on a pencil, eraser, and bookmark for each student. I am new to school parties and will be participating in them for many years to come and would like some ideas from the parents, grandparents, and anyone else who has ever given it thought. This year I an giving to almost 100 students (I worked with all of them this school year) and I need ideas for that amount of students. I can do crafts and am willing to start shopping/creating in January. Any idea is welcome. Thanks in advance

I hope that you will really enjoy the school party that you will be at this afternoon. I am a primary school teacher. I am on maternity leave at the moment after having my baby daughter. I usually teach 5 to 7 year olds. Typically I give them a pencil, a rubber, a bar of chocolate, a little toy and party hat. I like to play games like pass the parcel and musical chairs. I think your ideas for the gifts for each child are excellent. It is wonderful that you are going to do crafts in January. It might be lovely for the children to make a collage with paper that they cut up. You could make stained glass windows or create something from a story book.

I love that idea, I just finished my student teaching and am looking forward to a real teaching job soon, I love the idea of making stained glass windows. I have always thought that there should be more art incorporated into the schools in my area and that would be a great thing to have the kids do. Thanks so much for the tips.

I think something small like a magnet might be nice. you could make your own with a strip of magnet cut up. Or you can make some little clay objects that you could stick a hardier magnet to. Or some hand-made leather strap bookmarks that they can use, and to encourage them to read more. what you've decided is very practical and think they will like it!
