What does feminism mean to you? I'm just wondering because it seems that people are under the misconception that feminists are men hating, amazonian women who want to rule the world. It seems that people have forgotten about equal rights. Women are still fighting for equal rights. With people forgetting that there is still a huge disparity between men and women, the fight for equal rights seems to be taking a step back.
What do you think?

I don't want to be any man's equal - I don't want to go that low! Seriously, I think feminists have morphed in the public consciousness from being cute little creatures who burned their bras and thought they could do men's things, bless them, into 'wimmin' who hate everything male and want to do everything - even have children - without any male input whatsoever.
Both of these perceptions are really wide of the mark of the true spirit of feminism, which boils down to equal treatment and equal pay for men and women in the same job. That still isn't happening, and all these females who take their bosses to tribunals for making lewd jokes or suchlike are doing the cause of feminism no good at all. I'm not saying women, or men for that matter, should put up with unacceptable behaviour, but when I was at work and a man overstepped the mark, I found a heel dug into his foot or, in the worst cases, a knee into the nether regions was very effective, and at least I retained my dignity.

for me feminism is really standing up to women's rights.it is not all about changing the world drastically and ruling the world.it is all about fighting for women's rights.in these times, there are still stereotypes who think women should not work and just stay at home.I say,let women earn their own money.

I do agree that feminism is about women taking over the world. But sadly, if the world were to finally give equal rights to women, that would indeed be a drastic change. Thank you for your input. Your interest in feminism gives me hope that not all women have forgotten about what we are still struggling to achieve.

I am going to answer this from a males point of view, I beleive that feminism is a way of females proving that they can do things that are typically male for example building jobs and plubing. I am all for women being feminist as there should be no reason for a woman not to be able to do something because they are female.
Women are the stronger s*x I beleive as they are the one that go through pregnancy and labour which is truley magical!
