Help the vital energy to remove the toxic matter from blood and purify the system. Give complete physical physiological mental and sensory rest improves and strengthens immune system. Repairs and rejuvenates the whole system prevents damaging changes in vital organs and improve their functional efficiency. fasting awakens the mind develops inner tranquillity.Fasting itself is not a cure but it enables the body organs and recuperative forces to turn their full energies upon the problem to be corrected this is the great secret power within.

I have occasionally fasted when I am dealing with a difficult problem or making a big decision in life. Not really for the reasons of trying to rid the body of impurities, but to enhance my concentration. I only do one day fasts of food and avoid any caffeine. When I feel my body beginning to groan with hunger, I simply devote time to meditating on my problem/decision and spend a few minutes in prayer. I have found it very beneficial for me!

nice write up, yogita. very informative.
all fastings must be on a moderate scale. after fasting, one should never get into feasting. that is a very bad thing and will result in opposite result. fasting does not mean going hungry and depriving the body of all essentials. there are few exceptions that need to be followed strictly. water content in the body should not be allowed to go down at any cost.
its like a maintenance shut down in a factory or production unit.

...Hi yogita123, We mostly tend to consume so much junk, that a day of so of fasting would do our bodies good. It would take out some of the toxic waste that we get from canned foods which have preservatives, remove a lot of the impurities from what we drink. I once particpated in a 40 day fast, we could eat after sundown and before sunrise. My body underwent an amazing cleansing, my skin cleared up, I lost weight that was not needed and I felt better. We don't realize that we eat too much food on a daily basis, so I say as you, moderate fasting is a very good thing for the mind and the body. Take care
