So today, I gave myself my Christmas gift. I opened a savings account, just for me. It was not much, it was just the minimum necessary to open the account. I still haven't figured out where I will get the money to add to this savings account. I think the present part of it is that I provided myself a means to save. So what did you give? Or what will you give yourself as a present this Christmas? Will you ever consider what I did? Will you open a bank account, as a separate bucket for saving?

dorisday1971 - I agree it was a great idea, and something you could also consider. Mine and my husband's money goes into our bank account but we have a program attached to it so that every time we use our debit card it deducts a dollar from our checking towards our savings up till $300.00, but we can take most of that out and then start all over again, lol.

That is such a great Christmas Present, but why not use the money from mylot to put into savings? Or does it go directly from paypal to a checking account? Many banks offer online banking and you can transfer money to and from so it's as simple as 1,2,3. I haven't bought myself anything yet, but my husband has bought us a few pre christmas gifts. I haven't gotten my first paycheck, but will get it on Christmas, so I suppose that will be my gift to myself this year. As for gifts for others, we're giving ... My Dad : Pot Holders as he needs them for his new place His Dad: A gift card to wal*mart. His Mom: Books He's getting from me : Assasin's Creed Video Game, and a Tom Clancy game I can't remember the name of, He also got a "Halo Wars" t-shirt I gave him already. His Grandmother : A Voucher From Us TO Her in regards to helping her out with sitting with her mother. His Grandfather : Hair Cut and Cakesters A Fricoubrond : A Gift Card (walmart). We were considering a TRIPLE A account but we'd have to keep it up and we really need to save our money for getting a car and house... Oh and FRIend BROther (obviously) and COUsin... Lol he's all that to us basically. A friend : A Gift Card... to walmart as well. His GG : Coffee maker. He's getting me video games as well, I just don't know what.

Indiana Jones 2 - the adventure continues - Wii Lego Indiana Jones 2
That is my ultimate plan. To put whatever savings I get from my online work, including myLot, into that savings account. So, at least I would see something concrete at whatever I am doing. I see, you got a lot of video games in here. They become a bit of expensive huh? I just bought my son his Christmas present. It was the new Wii Indiana Jones 2 lego game. It was more than $50!

That is a good Christams gift for yourself. I should gift that to myself too. I had a personal account - Paypal with the small amount of money I collected by working online, but I used the money to get gifts for my family for Christmas. I think I should get a personal account and keep the money I earn online in that and should not take it for daily purposes.

Thanks daliaj. I thought it was a neat idea too. And I am thinking of putting whatever I earn online in that account. It won't be much, but at least it will earn a little interest, instead of just the checking account that I have, which is connected to my PayPal account, and does nothing in terms of earning interest. Thanks for responding.

Good for you Bounce. I opened a 2nd savings account a couple of years ago..I call it my short term-do I still want it account. I don't do credit cards very often, so when I saw something I really thought I wanted I opened a savings account at another bank to stash money in to save up for it. It forces me to really think about my big ticket purchases because when I have the amount saved I also have to rethink about choosing between the money saved and how bad I want the item. I almost always choose to keep the money in the account..Maybe I will change the name to saving to buy the Red Wings account!!

That's a good way of looking at it. Making the account as a point of reference everytime I think of buying something. Will make me rethink. What do you mean by saving to buy the Red Wings account!! Are you gonna be buying the wings?! That'll be cool. I'll buy my lottery ticket later. Maybe I can buy the canucks.
