Okay, per requests of a lot of my friends here I started to take shots of the ice crystals that form on my windows here in Frigid Minnesota winters. This shot is taken from outside. It is a shot of the lower half of my dining room window of all the crystals that formed. Kind of looks like a field of ferns growing to me. What do you see in this photo? Other than cold temperatures. Hee hee! HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

It hasn't really been THAT cold out here. Not to me anyhow. I think it was near 5 degrees or so at the time this shot was taken. It isn't cold until the windchills or temps hit 20 below zero to me. Thanks also. HAPPY HOLIDAYS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

Thanks bunches. It wasn't too cold the day I took this. It had just snowed & I was out clearing the drive and saw the window so I went in to grab my camera as usual. HAPPY HOLIDAYS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

I commented on the picture before I read your post here. And I thought the same thing! They look like gorgeous ferns, right in a row. It's art.

I love the forms taken by the frost! That looks beautiful and you're right, it's like a field of ferns. My windows don't front in the winter, though, so I don't often see it. Maybe it hasn't gotten cold enough here or my house is too warm, I keep the thermostat at 66-67. I really enjoy your photos!

Hi GRANDPA BOB, Our windows don't so iced up like yours as it don't get so cold here but there is a big freeze out there at the moment, so who knows? we might just get pretty pattens too. Tamara

I remember ice crystals on my windows in Oklahoma, but we do not have that here in Kansas, I wonder why? On cold Oklahoma mornings we would heat a penny on the floor furnace and place it on the window to make holes in the frosty surface. I think we had single hung windows, whereas my windows are storm windows now.

Hey Grandpa Bob! You know that I am one of your friends who has been asking for the "Return of Grandpa Bob's Ice Crystal Photos"! So, I must say that you sure have started the season out with a real beauty! Absolutely incredible shot of a formation of fernlike forms! I'm already voting this one a winner! Hugs, Opal
