Cats and the Christmas Tree

I don't know about any of you, but during the Christmas Season my 2 Babies seem to think the Christmas Tree is a thing with toys hung all over it. It is amusing to watch them. The first year I had both of them, they would climb it and bat the ornaments down. I came downstairs one morning and saw a gray tail sticking out of the tree. On other mornings and when I returned from work the ornaments would be all down on the floor. They also like to sit underneath the tree. I have many adorable pictures of them. They seem to have got better over the last couple of years with the ornaments, but I notice them "stalking" the tree for some booty! LOL!!! I also have this little red stocking that I received some Choclates in one year and now "try" to hang it on the tree. For some reason that seems to be their favorite one. I don't know if it is the Red and White or the fluffiness of the stocking that makes them go crazy over it. When I pull out the boxes, they even know what box I keep it in. I tried to get them a cheap one from Wal-Mart, but the will have none of that and keep going for the good one. My Cat's are truly a treat to watch during the Season. I would love to hear any stories you may have with your's and the decorations. Wishing you a "Kitty Christmas!"

Two kitties and a tree I could handle, when I was a homemaker. Five cats, a tree, and no one home to watch things.... not happening. We put a little tree up outdoors. Mind you, it's just my husband and I so no one is there to see a tree anyhow.
A freind of mine told me she created a cage around her tree with chicken wire to keep the animals away. She also teasingly suggested I hang the tree upside down from the ceiling. They are cats. That wouldn't hinder them, lol.

Very funny. We now have 4 cats. The three seasoned cats, don't mess with the tree as much, but boy do they like the ribbons on the gifts. Each year after I lovingly wrap the gifts and lay them under the tree, they get their ribbons ripped off of them or the ends of the curled ribbons are so chewed the presents look like they have been put through the washer.
There were years, when we would find a kitten up the tree and have to carefully pull them out. Which we were actually concerned about this year having a new kitten in the house, who is extremely curious, however, we have actually been amazed, he has only gone after the ornaments on the tree (I baby proofed. lol) He has a couple of favorites that he likes to take off. Bells, and the shiny balls. (The Booty) lol.
We chose to put plastic ornaments or ornaments that won't break on the tree this year because of the curious little fella. Right now he is trying to climb as high as he can possibly go in one of our trees. He is an interesting cat.
The other three who are all females, would much rather kick his but and make him stay outside.

Good thing for plastic ornaments, this way they cannot get to the heirloom ornaments. I put those up top. My tree is still somewhat "kitty proof" with the less expensive ornaments on the bottom. I have started introducing some glass ornaments back into the tree this year and so far so good. Not very many of those on the tree. They do have theirs own Christmas Cat toys, however they are having none of it. LOL!!!! Oh well, guess Christmas is for Cats!

Wow, a bad combination! My cat also loves to play with the Christmas tree decorations and has broke it many times, that's why I don't let it come in in the living-room, where the tree is!

M cats always loved the tree at christmas time. If they weren't playing with the ornments they were climbing it to see who could reach the top first. I remember one year we heard a crash in the middle of the night. I came out to check out the sound and the cats had managed to get the entire tree on the floor. At the time we had five of them. And even though the tree was plastic, they somehow managed to get it on the floor.
Now you might think that's nothing, but the tree was seven and a half to nearly eight feet tall. So despite how "fake" it was they all managed to topple it. And they loved sitting in the branches.

That is so funny! My Uncle also has this problem with his cats. His girlfriend has like seven cats. They finally had to hide the Christmas tree in their bedroom because they thought the Christmas tree was their own personal jungle gym. Cats are so funny.
