I was in the bus coming home about a hour ago and this gentleman was in the bus besided me kept sucking his teeth after eating a container of nuts.It was so annoying ,I felt as if he was scraping a pice of metal in my ear .My cousin does teh same thing and at all time ,I feel like grabbing him by the neck and chokin the daylights out of him .
Does this or any other traits annoy you when they are done by others and how do you deal with it?

This wouldn't bother me . Maybe he didn't have any floss or toothpicks available . It's better than sitting on the bus and picking the nuts out his teeth with his fingers.

Then they would be in discomfort till they got home . Just ignore it . U can't stop them doing it . So there's no point in getting annoyed by it .

I don't get why it grosses so many people out . Kids do it . Teenagers . Everyone . From all cultures . It works . Just wish I could do it .

I was on the train once , and this teenage boy was talking with someone , and kept sucking his teeth loud . I don't know if he had food in his teeth , or he was using it to display annoyance . The whole carriage heard him , but they didn't get up and move seats . Even the girl who was with him was relaxing . It really wasn't a problem .

I don't like it when people eat with their mouth open either . Then proceed to talk . Sounds horrible .

Cream97 . I can't stand hearing people chewing gum , especially when they chew it with their mouth open . But I can't believe how many people don't like hearing others suck their teeth . Just be more tolerant .

An ex of mine used to check the alarm clock at least 50 times per nite, if not more. It was so irratating. He would get up, push the stem in and pull it back out, then lay down. Over and over. Once he started doing that and i just couldnt stand it any longer. After the 30th time i sat up and told him if he did it one more time i was gonna hurt him. Another annoying thing he did was brush his teeth walking around the house. Well, thank God he's a ex now.
Sometimes i see people putting on lipchap ina really annoying way. They keep rubbing it across their lips till you'd swear the whole tube is now on their lips. Ugg i cant imagine how that feels. They just make you wanna say,""Enough now!"
Once when i went camping i walked into the public shower and restrooms. When i first went in there was a lady brushing her teeth. I went into the potty did a #2. Shes still brushing her teeth. I took a shower, she still brushing her teeth. After my shower i lotion up and got dressed. She STILL brushing her teeth. By now im beginning to get annoyed. Kind of makes me wonder what her occupation is. A BJ hoe???

Ya he does. That was a long time ago. I can laugh about it now. I check my alarm acouple of times but he was nuts about it. I have to check mine. My Kat fmily has knocked down my alarm clock so many times i really need to replace it. The snooze button is missing, i always have to reset it. The cover that goes over the digital numbers is missing too. I found it ina hotel room i was cleaning before moving here 12 yrs ago. But it still rings.

I understand your pain i live with my stepfather who has three annoying habits that he does a couple dozen times every day. He has to haul up mucus and clear his throat repeatedly and suck his teeth after meals. I either have to play my music loudly to block it out or leave the room completely.

Clearing his throat would annoy me , but not sucking his teeth after mealtime . I don't know why , but I'm ok with it .

Ugh! That sounds annoying and nasty! I hate things like that! I have been put off my meal by disgusting table manners. I particularly hate it when people chew loudly and make that horrible smacking sound...Yuk! Not to mention those who talk with their mouth full and show the contents of their half chewed meal to everyone. My young daughter is like me, she sometimes doesn’t eat her lunch at school because somebody grossed her out!

A number of things annoy me when people do certain action to alleviate their discomfort not realising that it could be an annoyance to others. Before I state some may I just interject that you seem to have some amount of intolerance that may push you to the edge of violence so please be careful.
One of the things that annoy me is 'drawing up air in one's nose' continuously.
Another is the continous clearing up of one's throat as a result of sinositis.Another is coughing in a social setting.
I deal with it by ignoring it or if it someone that I am acqauinted with I will bring up a dicussion that other can be paticipants and highlight ideas on how to deal with such situations. Here I try to give help in a positive ways and at the same time help the person to deal with his problem. Sometimes it helps and sometimes it does not. In some cases some people do not want to learn so I see that has to do with socialization; so in that case I say that person does not know better.
I have come to realise that peolpes' conduct will have to be tolerated in some quaters and we have to learn to live together.

That is way more than annoying that is just plain nasty! I hate when people dont have manners. One thing that drives me crazy is when people talk a lot with there mouth open but my worst pet peeve is people that chew wicked loud! I HATE that to the point where I'll say something.

Oh man I encounter lots of people like this even those who fart inside the train, men who scratch their balls without covering and those who burp consecutively without excusing. It's plain nasty! I just turn my head the opposite way and concentrate on other things to drown the noise or forget what I saw. If it's truly annoying I look them in the eye and express my disgust. That is my way of really shutting them up.

Is it true that in some cultures people suck their teeth more ? Depends who u grow up around . I've seen children doing it too .

Chewing with your mouth open, stuffing your face full of food, the list is quite long. I would have told the guy to stop it, he's probably never been told its annoying or he wouldn't do it. Or, it could be a nervous habit and he's doing it for attention, or, he just wanted to tick you off.

What I hate is people who eat with their mouth open and the sounds that they make. It is disgusting and gross because you can see the food that they are chewing.

Those what you have shared are some forms of mannerisms that a person can have. It is in that way they express their feelings and make them feel at ease at least when they are disturbed either emotional or physical conditions.
With these behavior, they cannot control themselves in preventing such mannerisms, others do have those because they have a disorders while some are acquired based on the environment they belong.
