Mobile is the biggest necessity in today modern life you can see even the 10 year old child having its own personal mobile phone as well...As far as the school children they use multimedia and expesive phone to show off as well and the mobile they carru along with them are very costly with all the latest feature as well...but the other side we can see the mobile phones are very dangerous as well for the children.they are miss using mobile to have fun...

I think phones should be allowed at school. I don't think that children should be talking and texting class. Smartphones could help in class. They have tons of features. Windows based phones have Microsoft Office which is used in class alot. You can even plug in your flashdrive to store information. You could surf the web for reports. iphone has a ton of apps that could easily be used in class.

Children have to be taught how to be responsible, but a cell phone isn't always the way to do it. On the one hand busy parents can use it to keep track of their children, but on the other some parents do it to buy them off. I think ten is a bit young for a cell phone, but if used properally it can teach children to orgnize their time and learn restrictions. If people set the limits for their kids, and the kids go over, then they learn the phone won't work anymore if they go over, so they learn how to save the minutes and messages.
Of course some might not, but its one way it could be benifical to them.

I think that kids should have a cell phone BUT it should have no features except the ability to call their parents, and that is 100% all it can do. I do not think that young kids should be texting or anything like that, but I do think that kids having the resource of having a cell phone to call their parents, or 911, is something that I really support and if I had children, I would want them to have a cell phone, with only those capabilities. Just the necessities to keep a child safe.

I think children should have mobile phones with less features, as mobile phones are necessary in today life for children and parents both for making a conversation with each other if they are in trouble or sometimes stuck in traffic jam, but should not not more features expect gaming features too, Yes i agree they should not be provided multimedia and expensive phones, as children can miss use them.

IMO it's normal to give a kid a mobile if he demands it, and if his/her age suffices.
But parents need to control them, so they have the time to study as well.
Even elementary kids got mobiles nowadays. Blackberry, Motorola and other popular brands.
But, I prefer giving my kids mobiles with less features. So that they can focus on their studies. And will not be addicted to it.
Giving a kid a mobile with an internet access is very risky. Because we can't control them to opening any prohibited sites. They could hide in the restroom and open prohibited sites.
