I think this has been a year of good movies, and good music.
A couple of my favorite bands (AFI, muse, ETID) came out with new records, and they have all not disappointed.
What albums do you think were great from this year?
I will say I liked:
Pearl Jam's Backspacer
AFI's Crashlove
Phoenix's Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix
Every Time I Die's New Junk Aesthetic
I also heard muse's The Resistance is really good- I love the single they put out. But I haven't had a chance to buy or listen to the whole record yet. w

Lady Gaga The Fame Monster is the best album of 2009 in my opinion. It's fresh and unique. I love every materials on the album.

Telephone is the best Lady Gaga's song so far. But, I love Bad Romance and Love Game too!

I've been pretty out of touch with popular music this year but from what I've heard Kill Hannah's Wake up the Sleepers is head and shoulders above the rest. Over the past 16 years, the band has undergone a lot of changes, from their line up to their sound, and WUTS has a little bit of all of their sounds. There are some anthemic dance songs and some introspective heartbreakers. And guest stars all over the place - Benji Madden, Amanda Palmer, Chibi, Tom Schleiter, the Chicago Children's Choir (who are positively chilling). Even Jonathan Radtke, who left the band last spring to work on his solo project and play with Ashes Divide, has a solo on one song. The album came out September 27 and I'm still addicted, three months later. I'm not even kidding when I say I put it in first thing when I get to work and listen to it on repeat for the full 7 hours I'm there.
It's naturally had a couple of bad reviews but the best they can come up with is that it's a little too "emo" for men in their 30's (emo is short for emotional - isn't all music, all ART, "emo?") and that Mat Devine's voice is high and airy.... That voice is what makes Mat Mat!
