Hi guys!. My birthday is near and lots of my friends and ex-office mates what me to celebrate my birthday. For my friends my birthday is like a reunion for that the only time we see each other. For my ex-office mates its the day of food festival, Because I serve lots of food. .. But this year.. I don't want to celebrate my birthday. I want it to treat it as just another ordinary day. .. In hard times like this and a year without a job its hard to spend unwisely. Yeah. Its just once a year but theirs a Christmas and like that need to be celebrated to. In fact if you celebrate all the holidays in a year you will realize that theirs a holiday each week. Add also the anniversaries, birthdays, weddings, Christening, etc. .. Its hard to costly if you try to celebrate each and every occasions that comes.

Hi fantastic babe: Even if some persons would remember me just for the party I hope they are not all, what about my parents, brothers and sisters. Well, i think you should try to tell your friends that there would be no party this year just to know who of them really wish you a happy birthday and who just wish to celebrate. Thanks for your answer. Hope you are having a nice day. -Alvaro.

We only celebrate a few holiday's here, and those are the major ones. We don't necessarily see birthdays as a holiday, but more like a special occasion. I agree though that the cost of things have gone up so that it's almost wasteful to celebrate when you don't have to... I think your ex office mates just enjoyed the food and socialness of your birthday lol.

Oh yes then, it is a holiday in that sense. It's a day for you and your pals to spend just being cheery, almost like an annual office party, lol.

My birthday is on a pretty ordinairy day depending on how you look at it. When i was in my mums tummy still the doctors predicted me to be born on my mums birthday, but i choosed to wait 11 days and come out on my dads... So the day in general is ordinairy, but in the family it is my dads birthday too...

My birthday sometimes falls on Thanksgivings. This is probably one of the reasons Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. However I'm like you I feel my birthday is just another day not a big deal for me.

I believe you can celebrate such events without much money. For example, everyone could each bring a dish themselves and everybody share or you could celebrate your birthday a different way maybe just you and a few family members doing fun things. It's possibble to have fun with very little money. People have forgotten how! My birthday is one of the 12 days of christmas so it doesn't really exist. Not really an ordinary day because people are busy celebrating the supposed birthday of Jesus, or are thinking about the wonderful santa season or are just recovering from eating too much turkey and all the stress and nonsense of christmas or whatever. I'm not sure it's better to have a birthday or not. Theres advantages either way. I think not having a birthday is just different, not better or worse. Anyway in a way my birthday is kind of an ordinary day, and I really think that's okay! Sometimes it can be even sort of fun that way. :)

If you think that way..like everyone will bring their own food.. I have no friend left..lolz..If that happen..Its a miracle..lolz That why they are waiting for my big birthday because of the food I prepared.. Every body loves free food. But bring your own food? "I have work", " I'm sick, sorry"..lots of excuses..lolz

Thanks..That what I'm planning to do have a little celebration in a restaurant and let them pay..lolz.. I celebrate my birthday and I don't spend a cent..lolz

You make me laugh! :) Yes it can be like that but maybe you could have a tiny celebration with just your family or close friends who you know really care about you. That would not only be cheaper, it might actually be more special especially if you usually do the other kind of birthday celebration all the time! Good to have a change! :)

I'm a born Christian and I see to it that I can go to church during my birthday. It's what is most important to me other than spending a lot.I'm not rich nor poor,I'm just average so I don't celebrate that grand. I spend my birthday with my family only. But, I don't know when it comes to my daughter, I always like to throw her a party. I enjoy preparing for others other than myself.

Its natural for being a mom..and parent.. To celebrate your children birthdays.. You don't notice it but you also celebrate your birthday. Because your children birthday is your birth-day to..right?

My birthday is in the middle of may so it isn't really close to any big holidays. It usually is just another day though. The last 2 years though I've made a bigger deal out of it. I wanted to go out and do something for my birthday. the one year a bunch of us went out to eat, bowling and to a movie. My sisters birthday is two days after mine so she went along too. Last year we went bar hopping. I don't know what we'll do this year. It just depends on how things are.

I used to celebrate my birthday when i was very young.Subsequently as i grew up celebrations totally stopped. Then when i began working in the Gulf for a brief period of four years my colleagues usd to celebrate it and we had night long parties with drinks and food cooked by our own office cook. Those were great times as we had no other entertainment. Not only mine but the birthdays of all my colleagues were celebrated so we had numerous parties in a year. However after my return to my home city i completely stopped celebrating the birthday. Now i only get phone calls from friends wishing me and a close friend always sends me a chocolate cake or chocolates along with a greeting card. My brother who lives abroad calls me up and wishes me.I also do not celebrate any occaision whether it is a festival or anything else.

Yeah..The fun old days.. I also treasure that days in my office.. So much fun and just being young and alive. Now..staying at home looking at four empty walls. Damn I miss those old happy days.. That why my friends want me to celebrate my birthday. But even I want to I can't.

i often treat my birthday an ordinary day.although it is very important for me that i have grow up 1 age,i should celebrate my birthday.at the same time it only cost lots of money onece a year, but i find that it cost my money that i can buy what i want,i think that it would be unvalueble to do like that,so i like to pass my birthday with an ordinary day and invite my real friend to celebrate,we would be together and have an dinner in my home.i find that it have same mean to celebrate my bithday.

...Hi bulastika, Your point is well taken on the cost aspect of a birthday celebration, these are hard times economically. But my suggestion to you would be to combine your birthday celebration with another holiday, perhaps New Years? That could be a nice thing to do, a little close to the Christmas holiday which I would not combine with my birthday for obivous reasons :o). I don't celebrate my birthday for a different reason, the number, I don't count my age by the number, I think I stopped at 30, that's where I am mentally, physically is another story but that is going to change for the better. That's my unwritten resolution for 2010, that is a must for me. So think about combining your birthday with another holiday celebration. Take it easy.

Hi bulastika: I respect your decition considering your reasons. In fact, at some point in my life, i didn't like to celebrate my birthday, i consider it a normal day and i can not hardly understand what was the big deal on having one more year but i now value more that this is the oportunity to remember how the persons around you they appreciate you. Thanks for sharing with us your point of view about this subject. I wish you a happy normal day birthday. Hope you are having a nice day. -Alvaro.

Well mine is ordinary already,i really dont like gathering or meeting things, i like to be left alone, yea at times i was forced to celebrate things without my permission, anyway there are people who are like me who dont like gathering or getting crowded, anyway i think partying in some pub would be nice idea than putting up a party on our own.

Yeah..Its much cost effective than making our own party. The time spend in cleaning before and after. If we eat in restaurant we pay and leave..That's eat..I mean that it..lolz

Yeah..Your right. It just another day actually if you try to think about it. Theirs no need to celebrate it now. I think birthday celebration are just for kids. Because kids love to receive gifts and games. But now. Its not practical to celebrate birthdays unless you have excess money for it.
