On my dad's side we can trace back to the Mayflower, on mom's side to the early settler, Penelope Van Princis Kent Stout http://womenhistory.blogspot.com/2007/11/penelope-van-princis-stout.html

Well, I haven't done any work - I have a cousin doing dad's side and my uncle got in touch with people while doing mom's side - but we had known about Penelope, since my mom grew up in North Jersey, so they hadn't lost all the stories of her yet.

I was told by my mother at one point that I am -- to a private in the seventeenth or eighteenth century. We are strong, healthy stock. Some of us are Irish, Scottish, and Welsh. There is some Cherokee and even some black Irish thrown in. Somewhere there was a Dane too.

I heard a rumour that a couple of my cousins are related to Don Cherry, the hocky announcer, but that's about all I know of in my family. No one in particular, except to say that in Creationalist theory, we're all related to Adam and Eve. :)

Not a damn one as far as I know. You'd think that an all American mongrel family with Irish, English, Polish and German ancestors would be able to come up with at least one semi famous person but we can't. However, there is currently a fairly well known Austrian classical singer who has one of our family's more unusual last names. She's young so she wouldn't qualify as an ancestor but I think she may be one of us. (I'd give her name if I was cerian but I'm not.)

I am not sure about me... Let's see... I think that their may be a gospel singer somewhere in my family, but whether they are also famous, I am not sure. At one point I think that I was told my grandfather's sisters made a gospel album but well I'm just not sure... lol... Um, Mine and my husband's last name is the same name of people in show biz, but I don't think any can be traced to us... though it'd be lovely, lol! One person's character name is the same first and last name as my husbamd's. My FRICOUBRIEND has ancestry traced to a king but I don't remember the king's name... I think it's kind of a girlie name though.. Scottish I believe. Hmmm... Other then that I can't think of anyone whose heritage traces back to anyone famous.

Lol, yes, I meant to explain the whole fricoubriend thing... The person who's related to a king in some way is a friend of mine and my husband's, he's also kind of a cousin in some way possibly to me, and then my husband considers him a brother, so hence the fricoubriend thing, lol.

...Hi winterose, I have not heard of any famous people in our family ancestry, but then I have not ventured into it. My sister was doing some research through an internet site, I am not sure if she got too far or if she is still researching, I have not talked to her about it recently. Fascinating subject to explore, not only to see if there are any famous people, but to see who the people were and what they did. I would be thrilled to learn all of that, you have my curiosity peaked, I might just investigate myself. I would like to know a little about my great-grandmother whom I was named after. Take care.
