hi all, I want to know that if we have poor eye sight and doctor prescribes to wear glasses, is it better to go without glasses. Because I saw in a book called "BETTER EYE SIGHT WITHOUT GLASSES" ? The book also states that our eye sight gets better if we go without glasses or any other type of lenses. Is it true ???

This is not good if Dr. prescribes for glasses then the person should wear it. Otherwise no. may be increase or eyes may be problematic.

This is just my opinion and my experiences, but if you need glasses, then you should wear glasses. For me, I can barely see more than a few feet ahead of me when I wear glasses. I have to squint to read the computer screen. That's not something that I want to have to deal with, so if you're like that, then you should wear your glasses at all times.

I doubt that. I didn't wear my glasses during my first year at school and was basically blind during that time. I can't say that that would have helped my eyesight so no its not good for your eyes. Just wear your glasses like your supposed to. :)

glasses are not good for the eyes because when you wear glasses normally your eyes will experience changes in the retina and progressively smaller or larger. There is healing through alternative medicine or laser if your eyes can not see clearly but it also must be done carefully to ensure no side-effects.

I'm nearsighted and I used to wear my glasses almost all the time and over the years my vision has gotten worse. Now I have to wear glasses when I drive, (law requires it), and without bifocal lenses, I have to remove my glasses to see up close. Now I wear my glasses only when I really have to and I haven't noticed my vision getting any better nor any worse. Why do some people go through life with perfect vision and others are born with bad eyesight? I would have to say under normal everyday conditions, your eyesight is genetic, and also has the ability to adapt to certain conditions like darkness and light, if you get used to wearing your glasses, it is my opinion you eyes will adapt to them. Not wearing your glasses may not improve your vision, it may not make your vision worse either. I prefer not to mess with nature, but it is nice to see clearly with my glasses on, and could live without them if I had to. Fortunately my eyes are not that bad.

Well, I don't think it is better to go out without glasses, if you need them. Just because it is dangerous for yourself and it is also not "healthy", because you need it to fix your eyes!

I have always believed this to be true, our eyes are focussed by muscles and if they don't get exercised then they may become weak or even lose some range of thier travel. I used to have very blurry vision close up until I got an lcd screen, it was very easy on the eyes and not as glaring as a crt monitor, because it was more comfortable I started using it close up, just like reading a book, now after hundreds of hours close range vision I can leave the computor and read anything close, even the finest print.
