Now that it is cold I get to do one of my favorite things and that is build a fire in my fireplace!! Not only does it help my heating bill but it also makes my house feel warm and cozy. It reminds me of when I was young at my grandparents house. I love the smell, the glow, everything! Do you burn a fire in your fireplace? Does it bring back memories for you as well?

We do have a glow of a burning fire in our living room! Unfortunately, it is not from gathering woods or lighting up a fire. It is from a flick of switch.
Haven't lived in a house with a real fireplace. My kids did ask me yesterday that if we had a real fireplace, with real fire, how would Santa come down the chimney? I had to think about that before I answered.

My kids asked me that too. Of course that was a long time ago. Still makes me smile when I think about it. I loved it when my kids were little and believed in Santa. Good to know that little ones still believe in magic.

We do have a wood burner with an electric blower on it but we have so many little ones running around I have always been afraid to use it, for fear of one of them falling into it. The mess of the wood in the house puts me off some too. Having said that..I do love a fire and in view of the latest gas bill we received, I am seriously reconsidering using it.

I usually don't light a fire inside, if only because it makes a lot of smoke... and sometimes, as it's on an apartment building, the smoke gets on the neighbours houses as well. Plus you have to get the firewood and that's a lot of trouble... lol
