Hi there, christmas is jesus birthday, and so is a fest in all the christian community, but it's for this that we celebrate christmas? I don't think so, i think that the major part of the people celebrate christmas because is an occasion to stay with family and to do a lot of funny things together, and to send gifts to friends and family. And what about you? what do you think about christmas? do you think that people celebrate it for religious reasons or for others? Thank you for your responses :)

Hi there Me and my family, we celebrate Christian to commemorate Christ Birth. For us, it is not about the material things or gifts that you can buy in the store, instead... Christmas is the time of year where people wish to give the gift of LOVE. Give love on Christmas day our main reason for Christmas day to show and share the love that Christ had given us. MERRY CHRISTMAS...

I celebrate it as the birth of Jesus and I'm very grateful that He was born! I understand that others don't see it that way but they see it as an occasion to get together with family and exchange presents that express their love. That's great, I can understand that and appreciate it.
But this commercialism where people feel obligated (forced) to buy presents for people is criminal. It's just a way for businesses to increase their revenue. I would much rather people use the day as a religious celebration with a few gifts or an opportunity to gather with family and friends with a few gifts. There is no need for all this excess!! It's somewhat immoral, even.

well i guess for my own opinion, they celebrate it to have some tight bond with the members of the family and to cherish the day when their almighty Saviour was born.. it just awesome that they have these nine mornings and then so after you were able to complete that nine sets of early awakening at four in the morning just to be able to attend the Mass,, but it will all be worthwhile since you will have the chance to somehow say your own wish... but you msut never expect that it will come true because what matters most is that you were able to participate in the season of love.. that's all i can say for now.. ^^

We want to celebrate Christmas simply because it is already part of our tradition as Christians. It's a very special occasion because we can have the chance to be together with our family and relatives. We enjoy this day for we forget all our heartaches and anger towards our enemies. We believe that this is the right time to reconcile and forgive those who have sinned against us. It is the time og loving and giving. But, of course, the real essence of christmas for us is our Savior jesus Christ. It's a special time to thank Him for all the blessings we have received from Him.

I think Christmas has become just what you said..an excuse! It seems the world thinks of Christmas as excuse to get a day off, an excuse to take a trip, an excuse to buy things and give things. I am not a real religious person but I am a christian church goer and I get tired of the Christ's birth being forgotten in the whole pageantry of Santa and the holiday's. Political correctness has taken the real reason for the season out of everything. Christmas is a fantastic time of year to spend with family and especially with kids, but while we are all caught up in the celebrating we should take time to remember Jesus Christ and the sacrifices he has made for us so we can continue to celebrate.

most people say they celebrate the birth of christ.
1. this is common tradition foundif celebrating christmas is because of christ's birthday then christmas is celebrated because of epiphany. epiphany is a hebrew word that means the appearing or manifestation of god.
2. Another tradition is being thought that is the story of three kings.
3. A tradition to worship jejus in the manger
4. Santa clause
whatever the tradition of belief people celebrate christmas for their god.

Hi, codris, for me, Christmas is the time to celebrate Jesus' birth. And we can also think of His birth, His life on the earth.
Yes, Christmas nowadays means gift, party or other things more. But the most precious gift is Jesus in my opinion.
No matter what people think of Christmas these days, almost the whole world celebrate His birth - only His birth.
I really hope more and more people can hear the Gospel! And merry Christmas!

Hi
I think Christmas has been commercialised as all the other major events/festivals.I grew up in a conventional Christian family, when beginning of advent meant going to church more regularly.December used to be the busines month for all us.But things are not the same anywhere.Times have changed and so have we.I used to go to Sunday School till I was 16 ,but now you hardly see that.I think people have taken Christmas to be a public holiday, and reason to get drunk and just emjoy, enjoy and enjoy!!!

People want to celebrate christmas, i believe as a way to get together with family and have a good time and catch up on all the gossip and just have a wonderful time and relax, some people do it just for the sake of jesus and whatnot but alot of people do it for the socialising.
