Are you a sweet tooth?

I remember when i was young, i would go to the corner store with my friends to buy some sweets. Now, I still find myself having a major sweet tooth! Some may feel content with having a relaxing weekend or going off on a trip whilst me- i'll be having if i find an ice cream nearby... So i'm wondering, are you a sweet tooth like me too? And, will i be a sweet tooth forever or can i 'mature' out of it?

I am 34 years old and I still have a sweet tooth especially when it comes to the holidays. Around Christmas time I bake cookies, candy, fudge and breads. I give most if the stuff away as gifts. I eat to relax and I love to bake. My husband is diabetic and now I am learning how to bake by using spelenda. Sometimes he can have sugar when his level is low.

I too have a sweet tooth but not as desperately as you do.I do like my desserts and like one after my dinner everyday but no more than that.I would not go as far as sacrificing a holiday to go looking for an ice cream but would not mind having one or two on the way.

Yes I am a sweet tooth also. The only thing that scares me by being it is the fact that I can get diabetes.

Hi, snow. I think I am. I like sweets a lot and anything that is sweet. I cannot end a meal without having something sweet to nimble. I hope to be a sweet tooth forever but I really need to shy away from sweets now. Lately, I have gained weight and been lazy to exercise. My blood sugar level has risen, too. I guess this is the obliging reason that we should "mature" out of it. For health reasons, I need to do it.

hey MMT. Yeah, i feel the same way. For every dinner i always need to complete it with a nice dessert. In fact, i sometimes think that desserts are more important than dinner itself!

I have a major sweet tooth and it's not a good thing considering I want to lose some weight and get into better shape. I try to ease my way off junk food or eat it in moderation but it's very hard when it's all around you. When I was a child, I would have candy and junk sometimes but there was a limit and my mom would limit what we we're allowed to have, that and I was always active outside with my friends so I never had to worry about putting on extra pounds. I've had a sweet tooth a lot lately since it's the holiday season and theirs so much good food around me, I'm going to try and watch the sweets when the New Year stars, we'll see how well this goes. I say the same thing every year but I never have the motivation to stick with it, my mom says you can have sweets and other junk items but eat them in moderation and exercise daily. To think I always use to exercise to work off the sweets and other foods and now that I'm not a kid anymore I've noticed I've gotten lazy, I really need to turn things around.

Hi =) yep, i totally agree with you on that one. Sometimes, I wish for just one day, I would have a 'healthy' tooth where i can't help but eat healthy stuff but i know that i won't be letting go of my sweet tooth any time soon!

There's nothing wrong with having a sweet tooth. Have you ever read the book Candy Freak? Almost everybody has a favorite candy. Also most Americans are very particular about the candy that they will buy or eat. For example, milk chocolate or dark chocolate? I for one hate Twizzlers. They are just so artificial. Much of the candy I have eaten and enjoyed isn't around anymore.

Well, just the other day, I was looking practically everywhere for sour straps but they are so hard to find! I agree, nowadays, giant companies are replacing the good old fashion sweets with something else. No... i haven't read Candy freak yet but i think i will soon. If it's an entire book about candy then i'm definitely up for it! thanks for the recommendation! ;)

When i was a kid I loved eating sweets and chocolates but after a time when I got to know that diabetes is the root caused due to eating such things I became very upset and just decreased the rate of eating it. The thing bothered me was, a diabetic person have to take injections of insulin almost everyday and cant touch sweets in life ever.

Back when I was in my early years, I would go and walk to the store just to get some sweets into my system. I would eat anything and everything that my eyes would think is sweet and lovely. But now when I got older or shall I say after I gave birth to my son, I do not eat to much sweets and would rather go for just a few sweets then that's it. My sweet tooth dilemma is not as bad as when I was back in grade school or even younger.

I make all of the desserts for family get to gethers. I definitely qualify for having a sweet tooth. It seems to be my category of choice when it comes to food. The sweeter the food, I the better I like it.

In my own opinion one can never 'mature out' of being a sweet tooth sometimes even those who suffer from diabetes =). I am a major sweet tooth. I can give up the main dish but not dessert.

Some of us can never "mature" out of it. I'm a sweet tooth too, and I've been since I was a kid. I still enjoy eating sweets, buns, and I always have cookies or chocolate for breakfast. Sweet tasting things makes us feel better, so I think we should enjoy it

If you're a sweet tooth that's part of your nature. Some people are their entire lives others grow out of it as they age. When we are younger our bodies can tolorate sugars much better then we can as adults because as children we have boundless engery where as the older we get our bodies tend to slow down. The reasons for this are not yet known, but our bodies grow and age. So does our ability to handle cirtin things such as sugars. I myself used to be a real sweet tooth. Am still from time to time, but I have to deal with a slightly hypoglycemic body so I have to cut back on my sugar intake.

Yes I have a sweet tooth and I bet most of us are fond of sweets. Chocolates, cakes, ice cream, cookies and etc., name it all and I would take a bite until I'm full lol. But having too much wouldn't be fun because I know I would grow bigger so the key is always moderation.

I don't think anyone get over having a sweet tooth. I feel as you grow older the craving grows, unless you are someone who is conscious of their weight or if a person has diabetes. I remember my grandfather who was so fond of sweets , if there was no sweets available he would steal a piece of jaggery at least from the kitchen without my grandmom's knowledge and also give us some.
