My cat loves to climb on my shoulders, but he digs his claws into me and it really hurts. But he's so cute and adorable I can't get mad at him. Sides when I'm in lots of pain or depressed he'll rub against me and purr until "I feel better.

I agree with some of the other responders - now... when they say "clip the claws" that just means taking the sharp tips off not trying to take the whole claw off because if you cut the quick (the pink line) you are going to have one really angry cat!

I was taught by a vet how to clip his claws. the problem is we bought this new clipper for him and it terrifed him poor kitty, if I had known he'd be scared I wouldn't have bought it Now he fights whhen I try and cliip him He never used to and I'd been clipping his claws since he was a tiny kitten.

go back to your old clippers - I use people fingernail (actually the large toe nail) clippers myself - quick/snip and its done!

I have 3 cats but one of them, Lynk, digs in to my right shoulder when I pick him up and kind of latches on. I too feel the pain yet am overwhelmed by cuteness so don't punish him for the holes he subtly creates in my shirt shoulder. Damn cute cats, with their unconditional love and furry cuteness.

my cat does that for a while, then moves away. maybe it is their way of cuddling close to you.

I love it when cats try and make us humans "feel better" I think its so adorable when they do that. So cute and cuddely they way they act sometimes. Though I don't let our cats use George's back as a purch, because they aren't light. They could end up hurting him or themselves.

I agree by clipping his nails about once every two weeks it'll feel like a new massage. My 11 month old kitten loves to sleep right next to me, so until I fall asleep he is always on my neck and shoulders, as to say "you need to relax and go to sleep". They are so adorable.
