My lovely gentle giant of a dog, a Ridgeback called Cindy died yesterday. Since a few days back, she had lost her appetite but, apart from that seems to be alright. last morning she didn't even take her milk and suddenly flopped down unconscious and vomitted blood. I got the vet down and after giving her saline he did not hold any hope. I pleaded with him to do something and he said that Cindy might have a slight chance if he could perform surgery. I agreed immediately. It was a 1 1/2 hour operation which she survived. The doctor said her liver was very much enlarged and there were other complications. After bringing her home, she never recovered consciousness and passed away. She was my best friend and had the warmest brown eyes anyone had. I am so miserable and depressed. Has any of you'll lost a beloved pet suddenly like that?

Hi AmbiePam: I really wrote about Cindy in myLot cos I felt it was the least I could do as a tribute to a beloved pet. If he was looking down from somewhere, I hope he knows that many mourn him and that he is very much loved. At the moment I cannot think of taking another pet and going through the same grief. But I suppose, ultimately I will later on. thank you for sharing my grief.

Thank you minx. Losing a pet is never easy. You keep on remembering everything you did together, the way he played with you and looked at you adoringly etc. and its awful. But thats the way things are and I guess we have to get used to it. No one is immortal, man or dog.
