What are you going to say when you receive gift that you do not like?

Hi, Taurisca! Welcome to myLot! Normally, my mind would think very fast on what to say if I receive a gift that I don't like. I wouldn't show it in my face that I don't like the gift, but in fact I will say something about how I am going to make use of the gift. Like last year, I received a pen during our office exchanged gifts. I didn't like it, but I just said at least I didn't have to buy a new pen. Just recently, I received a pair of ear rings and a necklace with a pendant during a pre-Christmas gathering with some friends. I was hoping for something else, but I just told my friends that I could wear them during Christmas even though I am not sure whether I'll be wearing them or not he he...

I just try to be be thankful for the gift. Say thank you and really not much more. I just put the gift up when I get home and maybe forget about it until its time to clean out the closet. I've gotten my share of disappointing gifts in my life. It is just best to be as polite as possible and hide the disappointment. No need to ruin the Christmas mood for every one just because you got a gift you thought was crummy.

I would thank them for the gifts even if I don't like it. And I wouldn't show to them that I'm disappointed, there's no need for it because just thinking about their effort of finding a gift for me is enough to make me appreciate the it.

Hi, taurisca. I can only say Thank You, nothing more, nothing less. (Of course, it would be rude to say that you don't like what you got, hahaha). Gifts are something you do not ask. The giver thought you are special and should be accorded such gift. We should be thankful for such a kind gesture and a wonderful show of love from the giver. It is not the gift that really matters. It is always the thought that counts. We should always be grateful for any kind gesture.

At big birthdays like 10th, 20th, 30th and so on, people will get kinds of presents from their family and friends. I will say thank you very much no matter I like the presents or not, as it's the best wishes from my close people, it represents their true heart, I'm so happy to receive any presents from them. lol

I will say that I love it, because I do love the fact that they tried hard to make me happy. I would never ever ever be as rude to tell them that I don't like it, or ever re-gift (that is lazy and TACKY), but I genuinely appreciate the thought of every gift, because I know how much care I put into the gifts that I give, so I am always grateful even if I don't necessarily like the gift.

I personally never thinking about the gift which someone give it to me. I only believing if my friends or relatives will give the best thing for me, of course the "the best" is refer to their own thoughts, not mine. As a gift, no matter what is it, first of all i must thankful to The God because i still have people who care with me and love me so they can give me the gift, and second, i will thankful to the person who give me that gift because of their kindness that's why i can get that gift. A gift has thousands essence inside, not only as a parcel or a merchandise, but it contains many wishes and all the good things.
