How often do you scan your hard disk?

I have an automated scan which runs at a particular time everyday. But somehow I feel it slows the browsing speed a lot. Do you think it's necessary to run a scan everyday or is it enough to do it once in three days. I am using AVG. What's your software?

I think it is not necessary to scan everyday if your software are updated in time.I hardly scan my hard disk.,because I have the software updated in time.

About once a week or two. I try to schedule some time where I'm not using the computer and scan it when I'm way. I would not recommend watching the scan as it happens, due to the fact it can be slow, especially if you have a large number of files on the computer. Still it has to be done and once a week seems to be good enough, at least for me, to fix any problems.

Of course the scanning must for HD it takes around one hour approximately . In our speedy world I don't think without threats scanning a waste one. If we finish our work before onehour duration we have to search for scanning page for pause or to stop is a burden while stressful work.

Running a scan at any time will slow down your system, because the service is utulizing your resources to do so. So when you try to surf at the same time the computer often doesn't have enough avaible memory to complete both tasks. So the best thing to do is to reset it to scan at a time when you can leave the computer idle for a couple of hours or so. This helps.
It's recomended you scan and update almost daily, but most only do so weekly. Depends on how worried you are a virous won't be detected.

For virus scan, I would update and scan the harddisk when I think is necessary, often half a year or so. For hard disk scan only, I'll do it when I think I need to do it also hehe. Maintenence is good for your PC's health for sure, but I don't think too much scan is good for the hard disk.
