Im not sure if what happened to me and my friends has something to do with racism. You the readers can jugde it. Our plane departed from Kamloops arriving to Vancouver, BC airport. During the check-in of our baggage we line next to each other. The ticket officer in-charge asked me if I wanted to take a seat beside my friend and the other Filipina. I answered her yes, please and thank you. When we boarded the plane we were seated at the end of the plane near the comfort room. The odour is not pleasant. But this was not my complain. The stewardess announced that the plane can not take off if 4 passengers would not voluntarily take their seat at the back because the plane is somehow off balance. My question at the back of my mind is why did the ticket officer gave us the back seats when she knew that the plane would be off balance knowing that us filipinos weigh lesser than canadians do? Did she intentionally place us there because the seats were near the comfort room?

I come from a multiracial country where racial harmony is the beauty of our people. We respect the culture, beliefs and race of everybody in our land. I have never find anyone treated unfairly in my country because of their skin color or race. We are united under one umbrella that forms the proud people of Malaysia. I may not feel the same if I live in another country where racism has been a daily issue.
