I would like to know the best software you have ever used on your computer. NOT GAMES. What is the purpose of that software and why do you like it?

The best software that I have ever used in my computer is Symantec Endpoint Protection. It is composed of 3 namely Antivirus plus Antispyware, Proactive Threat Protection, and Network Threat Protection. The PC protection works great and blocks malicious traffic in real-time. The best!

I have also used NOD32 Anti-virus from ESET before. It is also good in combating viruses, trojans and worms. I only replaced it with Symantec Endpoint Protection when I decided to join online income programs, knowing that these programs employ vast number of spywares. Your anti-virus program may be protecting you from viruses but are you sure you are protected from other malicious programs like spywares? These malwares, once they get into your computer system, they are very hard to get rid of, or very hard to eliminate. With Symantec Endpoint Protection, I get live notification that specific traffic from a specific I.P. address is being blocked, and that always make me feel good. I have peace of mind that I am getting optimal protection. Also I would like to inform you, that when I decided to uninstall ESET from my computer, the ESET antivirus system left two very persistent and very annoying packet program. Whenever I run eventviewer, I always see errors caused by the two ESET remnants: nod drv and amon. They mingle with the start-up programs and with the start-up process. They already attached themselves to the start-up files. It's very annoying. You can always see errors in the log. Although it is harmless to the whole system, it's very annoying. That's the reason why I regret using ESET before. It looks like "antivirus program left virus-like components". I don't know if other ex-ESET users are also experiencing that. I have tried all my best to remove the two persistent ESET component using MSCONFIG and REGEDIT, but to no avail. They are monsters to me. That's the reason why I recommend using SYMANTEC over ESET. No to ESET. I need feedback from other users pls...

From their site: "NoteTab?® is a leading text editor, popular Notepad replacement, and powerful code-based HTML editor. Winner of software industry awards since 1998, this application does it all: it easily handles a stack of huge files; lets you format text to your heart's content; does system-wide searches, and multi-line global replacements. It even corrects your spelling mistakes."
There's more, but you can see it at their web site: http://www.notetab.com I like it because I can have multiple documents open at the same time and can see all of them. It has a "paste board" function and you can open two documents side by side and compare them line by line.
You can get a free version of it to try it out. It won't do everything the full version will, but it will give you a taste of how it works.

Well, I am on a macintosh and I know the people who use mac tell that the OS itself is very amazing. However, the best software I have used - iWork - its just amazing how easy it is to work with spreadsheets and documents. Needless to say keynote presentations are such a breeze with cool animations and effects

The best and the most useful software for me that I use on my computer is "Excel". I use it at my office and also at home. This is a software which is for economic and financial evaluations. The best software for project evaluations and project planning. That's the main purpose for me. Ofcourse, one can use it just for budgetting and recording the financial transactions too.

I think its notepad. I use it for anything and everything. I play a lot with my computer. And for the same reason, I like to note down things every now and then. And sometimes it might be due to the reason that I'm an article writer - that i love the "notepad" more than any other software.
