Borrowing money from people..Do you ever do it?

Or better question: do you feel COMFORTABLE doing it? And do you have people that you turn to occasionally to ask to borrow?
I have my sister, my mom, and my dad that I could all potentially borrow money from. Unfortunately.. I'm just not comfortable with it. I pride myself on not owing any of my friends or family money (not a substantial amount, anyway!) and never feeling indebted to anyone (except for Citi Cards and the University of Minnesota, both of which I owe a substantial sum to..LOL.) I feel like I try really hard to be independent, even if it means seriously struggling in silence. Is this my pride? Is THAT the issue?
What about you? Do you have a similar "problem" as me?

No, I don't do it very much, just because I hate it. When I borrow from some one, I always think he/she says:"Well, now he will not give my money back" or something like that, and I hate it!

Yeah, when I was in college, I used to borrow money whenever I was short of it. I used to borrow to my parents when there's a project over school that needed a lot of it. I used to borrow to my boss at work when the same thing happens and I do not have enough cash to buy stuffs needed at school. the good thing is that I always pay them in time so that the trust would not be broken.

even we hold much money but if it comes from debt, sometimes we have to give it back so even we hold much money we will feel uncomfortable because it wasn't our real/ full owning that money.
But Debt is fine if you uise it for a productive activites likes bussines, commerce etc...don't use debt for consumerism shop..
Just use it for investment than for shopping

Im the same. I hate the idea of owing money. I just dont tend to borrow. Till recently I got my first credit card. I used it for the first time over the weekend for something small. Im trying to build my credit. Well it fells weird to owe money now, but im hoping this will in time build my credit. Other then that I normally dont borrow money.

I used to not borrow money but lately since I am starting with a new company I need funds to go around. So I borrowed money from my brother and a friend that I trust. I really do not want to borrow but only when the occasion where I really need funds for an important thing then I would do it, other than that no I would not borrow.

I too dont like to borrow money but sometimes the circumstances force you to do so. There are so many job cuts because of recession and people do not have money even to move around.

Well, I think you are not alone. A lot of people, including me, feel uncomfortable or shy when we need to borrow money from others. But I just couldn't understand, there people enjoyed borrowing money from their friends or family.
Usually I will turn down the request to borrow money especially those from friends who I am not so close with. It's tough. But most of the time, I will lend a small amount if he or she keep on begging. I do not like to lend money because I feel uncomfortable to claim back my money.
But, if I am pretty sure that my very close friends or relatives really need the money badly, I will definitely lend it to them without any hesitation.
Happy posting and have a great day!

I'm not too keen on this idea as potentially this could lead to problems and disputes. This seems to be a problem when you get friends lending money to eachother, this isn't always the case but I suppose it's walking on dangerous ground! Friendships are well known to have broken up as a result of borrowing money. I'm not saying that it's a bad thing to help others though when they are in need, this is a good thing to do. I guess we have to analyse a situation and ask ourselves whether we really trust that person that we will be lending money to! Are they reliable and genuine? Will they pay the money back? For me, this is territory that I don't like to explore! Andrew

No, I do not feel comfortable with borrowing money. Although I do borrow small amount of money if its just to meet the need of the time. I mean Rs.5 or similar change. I make it a point to return the money as soon as possible.

hi there.. actually at this period of time I'm busy to find ways on how to pay all the money that i borrowed because i don't want to carry that over next year. Sometimes, well actually as a single mom its not impossible for me to borrow money to other people but i'm making it sure that before the due date i need to pay for it. But i know how you feel because i rather to borrow money to other people (hey take note with interest/lending) than to borrow money from my family because i'm the one who gave them money lol...

I hate borrowing money from people. I think it is a pride thing. There was a mix-up with my college's bill, and it said I owed $400 dollars before I could register for classes (and that was in about three days,) so I immediately freaked out. And I asked my uncle if I could borrow the money and I would pay him back, but coming up with the money on such short notice was impossible. He agreed and I felt so much better. But then my school let me know that it was a mix-up and I didn't need to pay it. So I asked for nothing, haha.

Of course not... but, If I really don't have any money I will borrow it from my mom or from my best friend. As soon as possible I will return it. When I don't have any money, I just check my money on my local bank.. If I don't have much money fro the local bank... The only way... I will borrow it even I'm not too comfortable.

I understand girl!! I hate too borrow money from family and friends and I do think its a pride thing. Because when you owe somebody, they try to hold it over your head and you don't want. But when I am really in trouble, then I go to family. But in general I hate to borrow money!

when I am in great need of money and its very important to borrow money in scarcity then I never turn yself on and ask for it from my friends. They are very helpful and as soon as I get my money then I pay it back to her.
I am very much comfortable with it becoz a person can only understand it when in great need of money.
before I used to hate all this but Now when i have had it on me then I feel the importance of it.

Fortunately, I have not borrowed money till yet. I really dont like it or should say I feel embarrass to ask for money especially from my friends. I really avoid such situation. Or if it happens once in a while i make it a point to return it back as possible.

I am not really comfortable borrowing money from people because I hate the nagging feeling that I owe someone something. As much as I can avoid it, I do not borrow money. But given emergency situations wherein my "survival" is at stake, I feel more at ease borrowing money. There was one time when my wallet got stolen from my backpack and I really had to borrow money from the friend whom I was with just so I have enough fare to go home.
