Homeschooling or regular school? That is the question.

What do you think about homeschooling versus going to school? With the way that schools are forcing certain teachings on children these days and we have no say in what they learnor don't learn I'm seriously considering homeschooling for my boys. What are your thoughts?

..hi.. for me, I'd still prefer regular school because children needs to learn how to socialize with other people.. this way, they will learn how to adjust to different people with different kinds or personality.. their personality will also be improved because they will learn to assert their selves in certain situations.. there is really a big difference in homeschooling and in regular school.. although there are personalities of other children that could be imitated by your children, however, you'll be the one to explain to them the right and wrong things.. just weigh the negative and positive side of home schooling and regular schooling before deciding for your children.. for me, regular schooling is still the best..

There are extracuricular activities they can do to socialize. They won't be completely cut off from society.

Over here in Holland you cannot just start homeschooling your children and even if I could, I would not do it. I really prefer regular schools (easy said, I was a teacher for a few years myself) but mainly because of the socializing. Very important I think. Besides that, do you have enough knowledge as a parent to teach all regular courses (I mean, i can teach English and Biology, but don't ask me anything mathematical)...

I homeschooled my two for 2 yrs before moving here to the U.S and I have to say that I miss it terribly....We actually UNschooled and it worked out perfect for us..When we moved here to NY I gave them the option of going back to public school or to keep homeschooling and they decided they wanted to try public school again so thats what we did.. Homeschooling IMO has NO downside to it UNLESS the parent doesnt have the patience to do it...other than that though I can honestly say that I see nor did I experience any negative to it...

i did regular schooling and that benefitted me much as i was well communicated with others. I was a very shy person and after a few years the confidence was built in me which came from the schooling. a good school is enough and much better than home schooling.
