How to minimise child falling ill?

These days, I find that children fall ill quite easily. But the thing is we can't keep them at home all the time. I find that the times when they fall ill are when they come into contact with other children. Seems like other children are just more contagious when ill. The worst part is that many illnesses are most contagious in the day or two before a child shows obvious symptoms. So by the time someone knows their child is sick, he may have already spread the disease to his companions. So making sure that other children with symptoms stay at home is not the solution. What do you do to minimise your child falling ill?

I think you just have to teach them good habits. Teach them to wash their hands often, cover their mouth when they sneeze or cough and to clean their hands after. Keep hand sanitizer handy for coming out of stores so they can wash their hands. Also I try to give my kids a children's vitamin every day to help keep their immune system up to fighting off illness.

Another thing you could do is keep your kids away from each other as much as possible when one is sick. I stay home and my kids are 3 years and 7 months so when one gets sick it's not easy to keep them away from each other but I try my hardest. They are around other people when we go to the store and friends and families houses so during those times we don't leave the house until we feel they are fine so they don't get others sick.

Well, my mama used to tell me that chinese herbs when taken in moderation will help to strengthen one's body. Maybe you can try it as well. Small amounts in soups and dishes will help as a child only needs a little to feel the effects of the herb. Consult your chinese physician if you do not know what to use. Cos some chinese herbs can be darn expensive! But investing in your child's health is one thing you will never regret. In fact, your child will thank you for it when they grow up!

Well, i think i will expose them to the dangers out there.. It's better for them to be exposing to those sickness, in order to boost their immune system naturally, rather than keeping them away.. As they are young, they will recover much faster. As they grow up, they will be much healthier too, because their immune system has been trained to handle virus ^_^ Think of the long run, and being a mother now, i guess u would have realise, the older one gets, the longer they recover from any slight flu or illness right?? hehe

See that they take bath twice a day and clean their hands and legs after coming home from playing. This would stop more illness. And give them nutritious foods so that their body immunity will grow to stand any illness. If they are healthier, they are less prone to diseases.
