Are you afraid to use public restrooms?

I wouldn't call myself afraid of them, as I'm not a germophobe or anything like that, but I feel.. sometimes a little bit UNCOMFORTABLE using them, especially if they don't look clean. I try to avoid them as much as possible, but I won't NOT use them if I have to go to the bathroom (unless they're really gross). I once heard this statistic that public computers and doorknobs have MUCH more germs than toilet seats (however crazy that is to think of), so I don't mind it too much, knowing that there are much germier things out there.

I am not afraid to use public restrooms, I just dont like to use them its like you said they are disgusting I have seen where labs have tested public bathrooms for germs.... It is really gross!!!!

All you have to do is make sure to know which public restrooms to go to. There are a lot out there that are really clean but there are some that you wouldn't think of trying to go in. I was before but then when I got into other public restrooms, I said to myself, it's just a matter of choosing which ones. But if you really have to go then just make sure you are equipped with things to sanitize it.

I'm not afraid to use a public restroom, honestly places with public restrooms are suppose to keep up with cleaning them. Some places don't keep up with it which makes them quite disgusting. I actually watched something on TV that said toilet seats aren't as dirty as people make them out too be, sure if you leave pee on it than it will be but just a regular toilet seat that is "clean" isn't that dirty. If I walk into somewhere and the bathroom is beyond disgusting than I won't even think twice about turning around and leaving but most of the time I've never had a problem. If I notice it's dirty than I don't hesitate to notify a store manager, manager or supervisor, it's part of their job to make sure their clean and clean enough for people to use them. I've seen a lot of disgusting stalls when I've worked at places and they aren't fun to clean. However, someone has to do it and hey at least your being paid for it, not as much as you should be for some of the things you see but it's better than doing it for free lol. If a lot of people took better care of themselves and cleaned up their own mess other people wouldn't have to worry about this problem.

There is a misconception here. STD cannot transmit via sitting on a toilet except he/she bled. But this really grosses people out. That's why i never poo in public restrooms =). I don't care how nasty that restroom is, i will still use it if only i really need to pee!! I can see men have an advantage here that they have an option whether sit on the toilet.

I am very cautious when i go into a public restroom i stand to urinate. if i have to sit on it to do number 2 then i will try to use toilet paper around the seat. i use toilet paper when i flush the toilet. i wash my hands thoroughly with alot of soap and water and use a paper towel to dry them. i also turn off the faucet with a clean paper towel and head out the door with the paper towel.

yeah i am quite choosy also to the public restroom. usually i use the restrooms inside the big mall cause they are cleaner. i avoid using dirty restroom as you said it is gross to use dirty public restroom.

Oh this is quite a phobia of mine i have had for quite some time. I always use toilet seat covers or toilet paper to cover the seat. Thats partly why im having a problem potty training my son because if i take him anywhere im afraid of him using public restrooms.

I guess if I had to go really badly I wouldn't care about the condition of the restroom. But I am really scared of them a lot because a lot of people just make a complete mess of it. The public washrooms in buildings and malls are usually really clean because they have workers that clean it many times throughout the day.

Hey tuckersheri! Another great question! I actually hate going to public restrooms, so I never go! I am afraid of all of the nasty stuff in there and the very bad smell it has! I would hate to go in public restrooms. I confuses me because if a lot of people hate going into public restrooms, then how does the restroom smell bad? Maybe because people go in there when it doesn't smell and then when i t does smell, they don't go in there. I feel very sorry for the janitors who have to go in there to clean them. Most public restrooms that I have been in are disgusting and I try to avoid them if I possibly can. I tend to be a germ freak when it comes to public places. I normally take extra precautions when it comes to touching things in a public restrooms. I will not sit down on a public toilet if I can possibly avoid it. I have worked in retail and restaurants where I have had to clean restrooms and I absolutely hated doing that because it was so nasty. It's unreal what a lot of people do in those bathrooms that they would never in a million years do at their own home. They are fine with it as long as they don't have to clean up.

Ew I hate using public bathrooms. They gross me out. Especially gas station bathrooms, they always seem to be the worst. I never sit down directly on the seat, I am way too paranoid I will come in contact with Crabs or some other raunchy STI. I don't understand how people can make themselves at home in these bathrooms that have been used by everyone. I can't even go in and us a bathroom if some one hasn't cleaned up after themselves and they've left their disgustingness behind, I would rather wait in a long line up then use that stall. I feel really bad for the people that have to clean these bathrooms.

I am very afraid of public bathrooms and I know how gross they can be I used to work in a resturant and when I walked in to use the bathroom one day and well there was blood all over all the toliet seats. To make matters worse the bathroom had bugs crawling every where and then the manager did nothing about it for two weeks talk about gross.

Whenever I go to a public restroom that has the liners that you put on the toilet seat, I use them. My only wish is that every single public toilet in this country had the liners available; I'd feel less uneasy about my skin making contact with the toilet seat.

I don't want to use public restrooms at all! They are so disgusting! Why doesn't anyone ever clean them? And it just goes to show how many disgusting people can really be in this world sad to say but true if I can hold it until I get home I will if not I just have to stop I will try to find a nearby restaraunt that I know is clean but I never sit on the toilet! You are right they dont realize what they are sitting on from the person that was ahead of them. Blah! Gross!!It is too bad that there is so many nasty things in this world!

Hi Yes you are very correct. I also afraid of to use of a public restroom. There are several reasons amongs then one is the dirtyness of the rooms which is unreliable. There are very much germs and you can carry them unknowingly with you at your home also becuase different kinds of peoples using these rooms some of them having no means of cleaning aslo. So I never use the public restroom.

i dare not sit on the toilet bowl. Normally i will step on the toilet bowl, sorry to say that. Besides that i think it is dangerous to go public restroom alone. Someone may hide inside and do bad things to you.

I do not use public restrooms. I am finiky about it. And if I had to then I come home and take a bath and wash my clothes too!!! I agree that most people do not use wash room s like how they use their own wash rooms.
