Usually what is your breakfast item? Do you relish it or prefer some change?

In our house mostly I prepare idly (rice pudding type), dosa (spreading dough in a round shape on pan) and pongal (pressure cooking rice and green gram) for breakfast as they are good for health. Sometimes I make poori (wheat floor mix deep friend), sandwich and uppuma (made out of crystals of wheat, semolina and vermicelli) and noodles etc. I prefer to make poori with side dish of potato and onion. Since it is oily, I avoid making it often. What is your usual breakfast item? Do you like to have a change in the item? If so what is your preference?

You mean there are many varieties of parathas, probably with mullangi (radish) or menthi (fenugreek) leaves right?

I have the following items for breakfast, steamed bread, noodles--fried or soup, porridge, cakes, soybean milk, bananas and apples and so on. Sometimes if time is pressure in the morning, I will just have a quick breakfast based on the food that is available to me. They are all my favorites.

All good items that you like Williamjisir. As long as you do not starve in the morning, it is good to eat any food item.

Ah, we have idlis on Sundays and Mondays, we have bread on Tuesdays, and Wednesdays, Upma on Thursdays and Fridays, Dosa varieties on Saturday. Oats may replace bread at times or upma. :) Its almost fixed menu like some hotels. :) Actually, I started this because making dosas takes time. And now all our family friends have a fixed menu system. They copy my predefined system. LOL. It helps because even maid knows the chores she has to day on any specific day. LOL.

That is really great to have menu defined. You need not break your head in the morning about that day's menu.

Hai Lihocc, yes, change in the breakfast will make it interesting to eat. Have a good day friend.
Hai Starsailover, In the limited time that is available for making breakfast, try to give a possible change. You can eat bread with peanut butter, jam or any other spread. Eat fruit and beverage like bournvita or complan, cereal you can have. Have a good day.

Not necessarily najnoiram, in many South Indian houses, idly, dosa and upma is a regular breakfast item, whether rick or poor.

I usually make a big batch of steel cut oats and then warm some up every day. I like to put molasses and butter with some walnuts in them too. I also have some whole wheat toast with some mashed avocado on it. It keeps me full for a good part of the day. The I don't eat lunch until later in the afternoon.

This is actually a good practice to eat a sumptuous breakfast in the morning so that we can keep going, even if the lunch is late.

Hello Buchi,
As for me, when I was still in philippines, we always have regular meal, my mother tell us that we should eat good in the morning and then paired with coffee or milk. Sometimes we have pandesal with egg just like the common breakfast in Philippines. But since I came here in Philippines, I always have have wheat cereal and coffee for breakfast.
Would you tell me more about those foods you mentioned, they seem unfamiliar to me. Where are you from?

I usually just have a bowl or hot porridge or oatmeal with some toast for breakfast. Yes I do agree that you can become in a rut and bored with eating the same meal everyday. So I sometimes switch up and have cereal for breakfast with some fruits.

Hi Buchi bulla: i must admit that's the first time i have heard about these meals, sound interesting. My normal breakfast was, until some months ago a cup of coffee, bread and cookies. Now I start my day with something healthier so I drink a cup of lemon ice tea and nothing more. Then I wait until 13:00 to take my lunch. Thanks for your answer and to explain us what you exactly eat ;). Hope you are having a great day. Merry Christmas/ Happy Holidays.

If I understood well, lemon ice tea is a watery item. It will not stay in the stomach for long. Then acidity will develop. Please eat some good food friend. At least bread, butter or cookies and biscuits, cereal will do. In a friendly interest, I am writing this, please excuse. Your response is very friendly and bubly. Have a good day friend.

I have toast, eggs and potato tart usually. I have breakfast in my school everyday morning. They offer same thing everyday, not so many choice. But they are tasty though (if you are not picky =)) I'd like them to offer some sausage, ham, bacon, and little slice pizza if possible.

That is really nice to know that your school provides breakfast for all of you. When we see others eating, automatically we will also feel like eating. Put a request to your school to serve a change of item in the menu.

This brunch habit is there even in our house sometimes. Then I will make some porridge or give complan to the family members so that they will not feel hungry.

Oatmeal in the Winter. I teach; Oatmeal sustains me until 3p.m.
And of course, I drink orange juice and coffee. On the weekends, I enjoy brunch, which consist of scrambled egg whites, or egg substitute, turkey sausage and two pancakes.
I wish that I could eat sweetrolls and doughnuts for breakfast. lol

We usually eat raisins and pecans. These we eat with black coffee. Later on in the day I like to eat Patio burritoes with tabasco sauce on them. These are some of my favorite things to eat and to drink.

Sounds like you have a pretty big breakfast where you're from. For me, I just eat a small breakfast, I have a banana and a cup of yoghurt. That's usually it for me, then in two or three hours I have a big lunch which lasts until dinner.

Hi Aunty,
Usually morning times we have less time to prepare anything and rush to the office so i would do more idly, dosa, Chappitis and pongal and very rarely i prepare poori as nobody likes at my home. Some times i prefer to have sandwich or breadtoast or have oats.
Have a great day.

Very true. Even I will not make poori very often for breakfast as it is an oily stuff and my children will not prefer it for breakfast.

I think breakfast is really important to eat! I'm on i diet right now so i try to eat as soon as I wake up but i wake up at different times every morning so i'm not sure if that counts! I try to also have my biggest, most carb meal at breakfast... like 2 eggs with whole wheat toast!
