Sometime we surf on internet when we are in working time. My colleagues and I am afraid of being found by leader. Athough he do not often come to our office we do not want to be the bad lucky one. Now we can close the page quickly. In fact when i go to leader's office he often play games. If we deal with assignment well leader can not care about it. Do you surf internet in office?

I know what you mean, sometimes there are things you want to check, and then you get distracted. My work area is such that anyone walking by see my screen, and I hate that. That is the first problem. But never forget - the information technology department can monitor everything you are doing. If you violate company policy, they will have the perfect excuse to fire you and you will not have grounds to protest. Careful.

I remember some incidences while chatting on yahoo messenger. Whenever I asked the opposite person , most of the times , the reply was that he is in his office and when I used to ask him about the boos , he says ..ahh! I am the boss . many used to chat in the absence of their boss too. so there is always a chance of being caught doing it or being afraid for the same.

Hell yeah! If I can't surf the net during work time then my work likely can't be done :p I am a programmer, therefore I need to search a lot of reference about programming through the net. But, I also use some time to surf my lot and other site also :p LoL Well, for me, as long as your work is done and you still bring benefit to company, I think it is fine to surf the net on office time.

I also have internet connection in my office. But as a staff, we only have rights for using email system. We need to communicating each other and also with our different branch company so we use email for this purposes. Full internet access only for manager level. But sometimes we can ask for full internet access in certain cases. Some department allowing their staff to use full internet services because on their daily work they also need to accessing internet for some special purposes. But most all of my company staff we have our own smartphone and blackberry phones for accessing mobile internet. Actually it doesn't a matter whether we can use our office internet or use it from our own gadget because here in my country the mobile broadband internet access is getting cheaper so everyone can accessing the internet with less cost. Have a nice day and happy mylotting.

When I was working in an office I would surf internet all the time. When my boss came I had a method to disimulate. I always kept open some working document so I could minimize the explorer and show the document and look like I was working. I only did that when I had too little work to do.

It's quite normal, guy. I always surfing the web during the working time. If i've handled my work, and then i'll go to the net for a while for a rest. Or the Game Live eg. NHL MLB or NFL. As i interested in sports, i wanna know the score timely. But i won't surfing if i haven't finished my task obviously

Well, I'm self employed, but when I worked as a reporter and I was in the newsroom, no. God would not want me to do that and wants me to do my best for my employer. I see your leader might not be a great example. However, maybe he is playing games while on break? One can think of it this way. Would you want someone to do something other than their work when you are paying them to work?

When I was working full time as an Interior Designer, myself and the rest of the designer spent a lot of time on the internet. Business was very slow the last 6 months that I worked there and we really didn't have anything better to do most of the time. If we had work to do we did work, but the rest of the time we were surfing. Even before the economic downturn I occasionally looked things up on the internet when I had a thought/question/idea pop into my head. If I don't look it up right away, it distracts me from focusing and getting my work done.
