Need to find a logo software

I am trying to make the logo for my business. The cheapest I seen people offering to make a logo online was $29.95. I am not saying I am a cheapskate, but that seems a little much just to take the picture I have and make it a logo. I am looking for some software or a real site that will allow me to make my own logo. I found a few sites that you have to use their pretty little pictures, I don't need that. I need to be allowed to upload my own picture and add my companies info. Any help would be appreciated, if anyone has the software on their computer I can email the picture and information if you want to make a few extra bucks. Thank You.

I would beg to differ on your assesment of a logo as being just a "picture". It is FAR more than just a picture, it is your company image, your brand. There is a reason logo design is expensive, it is actually very complex. There is a psychology to it in fact. When a potential customer looks at your logo, litteraly with in 2 sedonds, they already have a mental image of what your company is like, what sort of business it is, what services you may provide, and yes, how good your service is, how professional your company is and how attentive to detail your company is. In short, that logo can make or break you.
The image also has to be translatable to multiple formats and sizes with no image quality loss, it has to be instantly recognizable, even in black and white. It must be print friendly too.
You have to do more than just create a cute simple picture. You have 2 seconds with that picture to convey an awefull lot to a potential customer. To blow that oportunity with a bad or poorly thought out logo just doesn't make good business sense.
