Do you collect anything?

I love frogs so when I was a teenage I started collection different types of frog figures. I have just around 500 frogs... I have stuffed frogs, glass frogs, plastic frogs, paper frogs and ceramic frogs. I have blankets, soap dispensers, bath towels, shower curtains, toilet brush holder, toothbrush holders, socks, slippers, clothing, plant holders and many many more things of frogs. My favorite is the red eye tree frog and whenever I travel to different place or a family member does they will pick me up a new frog for my collection. I have some from Pennsylvania, Ohio, Vegas, Wisconsin, Virginia, Michigan and Florida...I am running out of room in my curio for all of them but I still like to collect them. Is there anything that you collect? If so how many do you have? Are there any that are special to you?

I don't think I ever have. I have tried though but I haven't been much of a motivated person. It takes a while to get me determined enough to stick to something. But, once I do, that's it. I'm strange and I know it. as for collecting, maybe someday. Though George does have a plane and nascare collection.

I am nuch like you in other aspects of life, I think with collecting however that it doesn't take much motivation to see a frog in a store, buy it and then bring it home and shove it in the curio cabinet Hehehe..I am sure if it took more than that that I wouldn't be collecting either. Thanks a bunch for your response kaylachan

I don't collect animals, but I do collect coins and stamps. I am not crazy about them, just try to get some different coins when I have chance. I got coins when I went abroad, and sometimes when I work with forigners, I get coins from them. I think both coins and stampls are quite traditional collections, lots of people are doing that, but people have different experience, so almost impossible that 2 people from different background could have exactly same collections. Everyone should have some hobby and I think coin or stamp collection is interesting.

I collect several things. I collect unicorns for one. Not the discusting ones that look like a muscley, Pegasus type with wings or something. No! I like the ones that look like what I feel a unicorn actually would look like. Not too tall, with tufts of curly hair at knees and hooves. I also like frogs, roses and little gift boxes. I like old victorian bottles of different colors too.

I like the unique ones though. I see alot of plain ones around. That would be nice to have some place to display them. I could get more that way! Hehehe

Oh you would love my friends house then she also collects unicorns and has a whole room dedicated to them. She has built these really nice shelves for them and has them displayed on the walls....when my husband and I were digging up around the garage for the spring flowers we found three small whiskey type bottles, I am not sure what exactly they are but I washed them up and put them in the basement for later research...thanks for your response Celtic

Teapots are very pretty, I know my aunt also collects them and there are some that are very pretty. My grandfather when he was still alive used to collect what we called "weak" pennies, all of us knew that he did so any time any of us grandkids would find a weak penny we would save it and make sure that we gave it to grandpa. Thanks a bunch for your response lelin

Pennies - Picture of a "weak' penny
A weak penny is what we called pennies that had the words "ONE CENT" printed on the back instead of monument.... I have attached a picture for a better idea

That is something great to collect because there are so many different stamps that you never have to worry about having them all and it is so nice that your family gets some for you when they go out traveling. Thanks a bunch for your response neelimaravi

It's always good to collect something you like. For me I don't collect anything particular, my wife likes beautiful tea cups and glasses, some other woman likes all kinds of little bottles of lique, some women likes the bottles of perfume. I know a guy likes collecting cash of different version hehe. Hobby can make life for colorful which I agree.

Hehehe, I like collecting cash too...don't we all? I have an aunt that collects both tea cups and old perfume bottles, I think she started collecting the old bottles when she was digging up her yard to plant a garsend and came across 4 of them they were really cool shaped so she started going out and finding more of them. Writing paper, now that is something unique...do you have any of the papers or letters left? I always thought it would be cool to do the penpal thing but then there is always that is also that screy fear thing as well. Have you seen that show Hoarders:Buried Alive? I have yet to watch it but when I read anything at all I had to chuckle and thought of that show LOL Thanks for your response winterose.

I was collecting stamps before my marriage. After marriage, I had many responsibilities and I could not concentrate on my hobby. Me neighbour's daughters were in differen countries. So they used to give me many stamps. I got from my office also. It is good you are collecting frog varieties.

Yes I do have my stamps with me. Very old stamps, somewhere from 1964 to 1980 I collected. Whenever I see them, I feel happy and become nostalgic. Thanks for bringing my old memories back.

Do you still have of your stamps left? I hate when you have to "grow" up and have responsibilities and can't still collect what you want LOL... I have been fortunate enough to not have to worry about anything interferring with my collection. If I am short on money i just don't buy any more but I have never had to get rid of any of them. I've had various collections throughout the years. I used to collect happy meal toys from the different fast food restaurants. I was collecting those for a few years and I think I had around 200 different toys at one point. I ended up giving most of them away to some of the younger kids I knew though. Right now, the only thing that I am continuously collecting would be anime DVDs and manga (comic books). I haven't really kept track of everything I have but last I checked I owned around 300 DVDs of various series as well as 500 volumes of manga. And my collection is still growing since I still have a lot of incomplete series.

Yes, it is quite good but my mom is always complaining that I spend too much money on it lol...And yeah, those McDonald toys are worth something. My brother had the whole Disney collection from a while back (he cheated since he was working there at the time) and he made quite a bit of money when he sold it.

L.O.L. That's funny you really thought I had that many cats? Well if I could I would I love them so much!!!! Meow!!! It's funny how you like frogs I used to work at this place and my boss just loved frogs and every time I would see one I would try to get it for her if I had enough money at the time, and I have not seen her in years and every time I see a frog I still think of her! Well good luck with your frog collection!!!

I collect books. I have tons and tons of books at home. I have around 300 books at home and 2 big bookshelves. I always have to buy at least one book per week. When I have a title I desperately want, I always go to a lot of bookstores. Sometimes, I go to Ebay or other online stores. I have several books that I love reading over and over again. I read one specific book 8 times already.

For me it is dolphins, but I don't think that I have nearly as many dolphins as you have frogs. I started my collection with a plastic molded dolphin that I got when I was in Chicago on a school trip when I was in the eighth grade (the dolphin, unfortunately didn't survive our move this year). However, since that time my collection has grown to well over 100 different dolphins. When we did move into our home, I decorated our mantle with a large number of them and I love that I have such a prominent place in our home to be able to display them.

My best friends daughter collects dolphins, they are so very pretty. I have a dolphin snow globe that my grandmother had from when I was a little girl and when she passed away I was able to get it and now have it on my shelves as you enter my living room. The dolphin head on the inside of the snowglobe is broke from my recent move as well but I will still keep it because it means so much to me. One hundred is a pretty decent collection, I have had family members buying for my for years to so it has made the collection faster, almost all of mine are smaller nic nac types so i have been able to contain them to my one curio but it is starting to get full...Thanks a bunch for your response dorann

For several years I collect giraffe figurines. This started because I found them oh so tall and graceful...two traits that I long to possess! I am short and yearn to be tall! I no longer collect them but have the ones that I collected. In my office at work and on a shelf at home are a large number of nurse figurines! I do not get any new ones as I realize now that I don't know what on Earth I will do with all of them when I retire! As a side note, my daughter used to collect frogs too! She has stopped but has all of the frogs she collected!

i mostly collect antiques like old books, cobalt blue glass, old postcards, and like you, flower frogs. i also collect vintage brooches (pins) that a lady may have worn a long time ago. i have several from family members and really love them.

Vintage brooches sounds like a really cool collection especially when they are from other family members. I always thought that collecting old glass would be a nice thing to collect and then make jewelry out off. Thanks for your response cher913

Mostly, I just collect dust... Seriously, though, I don't have a large collection of any one thing, just a few of this and a few of that. My next sister used to collect snail figurines, and had quite a collection. She has since cured herself of the habit. Oddly enough, one of my neighbors who moved away liked frogs, and the woman who lives there now also likes frogs.

That is pretty cool that both neighbors that moved into that house collects frogs. I don't think that there is anything wrong with collecting a little bit of this and a little bit of that...I had small collections of a few different things including that frogs but I finally settled with the frogs. I used to collect ostcards from each place I visited and have now got a fair few of them! However I also like to collect keyrings or key chains as some call them and I try to limit how many of these I buy because of course they weigh so much more than postcards!! What I tend to do is buy ones from places that I have enjoyed or things that I love - for example I love the Blue men group shows so last time I went ot the one in Florida I boight a key chain that was in the shape of a hand painted blue as it represents something I love!!

Postcards are a thing to collect but I could never collect them only because I do not travel so I would only have like 3 of them LOL...Do you also collect the key chains that have the funny sayings on them? My friends daughter collects those and I swear everytime we go for a visit she has a new one LOL Thanks for your resposne frankie

Yes stamps and coins seem to be the most collected...I like your choice of collections because while different they are all still involved with the ocean. I recently visited Lake Michigan and was able to see some very beautiful lighthouses..my mother in law who moved to Wisconsin a couple years back also loved the lighthouses there so she started collecting various lighthouse items as well. I still wish I had a few of the things I had when I was a kid, there are a few things that I am sure would be worth money today. I know that some comics books are worth money as well...but like you said as we grow older we lose interest and don't think about what in may be worth in the future...silly kids LOL Thanks for your response nijolechu
