I love Christmas time because it gives me a reason to make a lot of different goodies and get fat before the new year This year I made a bunch of different treats including peanut butter blossoms, no bakes, fudge, sugar cookies, hard tact, chocolate chip cookies, rice krispie treats, brownies, and popcorn balls. My family is in sugar heaven but I enjoy baking so much for Christmas....
Do you bake Christmas goodies? What types do you like to have?

My mother does all the Christmas baking in our family, and she gave us a really nice tin of Danish Christmas cookies There are all kinds of wonderful things in there. My husband and I can't stop eating them. LOL

Yum...my husbands grandma used to do that all the time too but hasn't been able to the last few years due to her health but that was something that we always used to enjoy as well. I try to make some of the same cookies that she used to do and while I make some good cookies they still are not as good as hers. Thanks a bunch for your response danish

Last christmas I bake big macaroons as christmas treats for my guests. My baked macaroons are special because I put almond extract, walnuts and maraschino cherries on them which made them more rich, yummy, and delicious. I also used a super creamy condensed milk which made the macaroons stick to each other. Merry Christmas. Enjoy Mylotting.

I must say that that is something I have never had is macaroons. I have somewhat heard of them before but never tried them. I am not real sure if they are something I would like though because I am not a fan of cherries but other than that I would probably enjoy it. Thanks a bunch for your response hapsicordable and Happy New Year

This year I think we're (my daughter and I) getting a little carried away with Christmas goodies. I made Chinese Fried Walnuts, and she's making gingerbread cookies and Russian tea cakes. Then she is going to make creme brulee. For Christmas day, I will make pumpkin pie. My daughter in law is making a German chocolate cake and we will have jello with nuts and fruit cocktail. That's beside peppermint candy, chocolate candy and old fashioned filled candy that I bought.

Lol you are too funny gabs...licking the bowl is always the best part of baking. I am not a great baker but I try and have managed to get some baking treats down. My kids are always bugging me to lick the bowl and the spoons...i will switch off that way one time she gets the bowl and he gets the spoon and then the next time he gets the bowl and she will get the spoon...and then of course there are times when my husband wants it too so I make sure that i have enough to split for all of them LOL Thanks a bunch for your response gabs...

nope I have never been much of a baking person I am afraid. There is just me and my son and he doesn't like sweets so I do not bake very much at all.

I don't bake anymore. I will share this with you though. I used to work at the phone company and there were about six of us that ran around together. I was invited to one of gals homes during the holidays for a party. She made these gingerbread men and then when we got and had had afew drinks we would be directed to decorate one as if it were a man. She had several already decorated when we got there as sort of designs to go by. They were not nice ones to say the least. Let your imaginations be your guide! Fun!

Hehehehehehehehehehe...celtic that is too funny. That so reminds me of my friend that I was mentioning in the above posts. She works at a place we call Cheri's Video...it is a Ma and Pa type store with a Taco Bell attached but anyhow they have a whole adult section in the back and one of their items are the naughty chocolates and last year for christmas she decided it would be funny to make us some naughty christmas candies...she made my husband a full lady silhouette and she made me a santa with a little extra hanging out We had to make sure that the kids didn't see them before we ate them...I think doing that with gingerbread men would be hysterical...Thanks for sharing

As I live alone and have never been much of a baker. All my family and friends make sure I have plenty (sometimes too many) Christmas goodies to enjoy.

I enjoy baking but like you I have a friend that takes pretty good care of us in the candy department and I think I like that even better because while baking is fun I enjoy the treats better when I don't have to clean up the mess....Thanks for your response whiteheather

I don't bake much anymore. Mostly because my friend is constantly baking and then expecting me to help her eat the goodies.

Hehehe...that is what I tell my friend that bakes for us each year. She makes a big bucket of chocolates for all for of us here and if I wasn't a disbetic and could have more sweets I am sure that I would have a ton more of those yummy chocolates as well as a few extra pounds on my bottom....Thanks a bunch for your response barbaraprz

I do bake but not near as much as i use to. my sons are frown & have hamilies of there own so there's noone here but me & i sure don't need it. I'm having my dinner tonight & i made a chocolate cake & pecan pies, That's it. Everybody is usually so full they don't eat alot of desserts. My grandson doesn't care for much of anything but ice cream so of course i keep that on hand.

My mother is actually the Christmas baker of our family. She usually does sugar cookies and chocolate chip cookies and no bake cookies (my personal favorite). She also does buckeyes, rice krispy treats and fudge. This year, however, Christmas snuck up on her far too quick and she was only able to do the cookies. I think this is the first time that she's never gotten her baking done. I was going to make some peanut butter candy to add to the array, but I ended up getting stuck looking for my Christmas presents in my house that I didn't have the time to get those done either.

I love to do Christmas baking also.
I only made Chocolate chip cookies, Caramel cookies, gingerbread cookies, rocky road, seven layer bars and mint chocolate bark.
I have several other items I usually make like Coconut Bon Bons, fudge, kentucky butter cake, Decorated Sugar Cookies, Rum cake and cake balls but I fell and tore the lining in my stomach and am waiting for surgery next week.
So I didn;t get to finish all my baking.
I make all of this and then send it out to my family. It gives them a part of their childhood and reminds them of home. This will be the first year that I haven't made it all but I am on bed rest and just can't do it. At least I got some made first before it happened.
I will be back in the kitchen in full force next year though so they better be prepaired.
